very sad. pardon any insensitivity but im sort of surprised this doesnt happen more often.

Its my undestanding they had just came from a Quinceañera(sweet 16).

If they had just come from there how the hell were they drunk? There are lots of adults at those -- it's a FAMILY celbration - not like ours where we supply the money and our kids tell us to get lost.

At those the adults might drink but usually the kids are too busy dancin and tryin to sneak off with thier "sweetie". Ya know how every kid is "in love" at 16??............ I didn't think those lasted till midnight. PLUS you usually can't have one of those without hired cops. Those have a tendency to get out of control due to the ADULTS drinkin and pullin knives and the main problem often is kids comming that were not invited. Rumble city so to speak.

I'm with HW - I think these kids were out late more than once. Too bad probably it was the 1st time that little 14 yo got to join the "big guys" in their night life escapades. Maybe there is a real drinkin issue with kids in DC??? I would be lookin at the big picture rather than the end result. Sounds like there's lots of work to be done on all sides......

Both of ya....Very, very sad - like shutting the barn door after the horses are out.....but a very good lesson for other parents. By the way..........when, and if, they find the driver, I hope they don't find it's a parent that's been shielding him. Or possibly, he's been shipped back over the border already?

I would tend to agree with you KCM. Probably back in Mexico by now. It seems that whenever an accident happens, most of the time, those involved jump out and run. They don't have drivers licenses, no insurance,and in this case they don't want a manslaughter charge or jail time. Pretty sorry shape our country has become. You get the picture!!

well how hard would it be for some kids who just got done doin the whole quincinera thing to sneeak off with some of the beer the adults were drinking. Not very. I attended a quincenera and at the end champagne was served to those who participated. The quincinera story sounds good to me, I'll buy it.

I've worked personal security for many of those sweet 16's and they can get alcohol very easily from some of those places. Most of the time it's the adults that are allowing it. I've even had time that when we as security guards tried to take a drink from a minor and throw him out, that they have gone to the bar owners and the bar owner ok's it. So it doesn't surprise me one bit.

Ya I hear you Dustin I have seen that too. I don't understand why the police or the ABC has not busted any of those party's? There is always underage drinking going on and kids AGES 2 ON UP running everywhere with everyone around being drunk and all this is IN A BAR at night!!!! Isn't that endangerment of children??WTF??? I know for a fact that if a place like Donny G's or Cowtown, Dodge House, ect ect ect, would do that they would be shut down and fined big time by the big bad ABC! Now how do these Hispanic clubs get away with doing that? I have been to some hispanic clubs in the past and let me tell you I have seen many violations of the ABC laws but when the ABC is in town they don't ever bust these places?? Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm
