wouldnt the event held at the bar be considered a personal event? If the place has been rented by a family and is not open to the public then the police wouldn't be able to come in and bust them unless they have reasonable cause. They can't say, "well, other quinceneras have underage kids drinking so this does too." They can't raid a private party just as well as they can't come into your house to see if there are underage kids drinking. Ultimately it falls on the adults and those who run that business. If they don't want underage kids drinking in their place they have say over it. BTW. I'm willing to bet that ABC busts those places that sell/serve alcohol to minors and are NOT owned by white people. You actually think they give a break to those who are not white?????

| No you make a valid point about the police not being able to go in without probable cause, but they can sit outside and watch people leaving and try to catch them before something terrible like that accident can happen. And also I disagree with pootsy on the ABC point, because I have bore witness (and paid the price a time or two) to ABC writing tickets to many hispanic bars I know I've had by butt chewed by a bar owner or two after it happens.

| I forgot your quincerretias are held in bars...... I shoulda known better......I forgot. Ours are all at VFW's, KOC, LULAC, - you get the point - our bars are not "rented out" for private parties cause we don't have "private" bars. I remember that an old aquaint. made his money for the most part off these - rentin his bar out and the multiple slums he rents...... I used to call him the slum lord...... I just plain forgot!!....... My son and DIL work these events and trust me if they see underage drinkin the party is done, the owner is cited. There is a contract with the organizations that rent out their hall. Part of that is they have to have cops - not rent a cops - the full fledged cops......... the laws of Texas don't change for the parties. Course a couple of cops can't be everywhere so I'm sure there is some underage drinkin going on in the shadows but nuthin like what ya'll are describing.

| Ok.. after reading all the posts about how there was drinking involved at a bar, and why they ( the bar owners) cited for underage drinking, but the next question is IF they did run to Mexico ( that is the rumor i heard) then why dont our police go get them? If we know who it is, and we know where he went, then why cant we take care of business? Does that mean that the kids that did come back get to " pay " while the other kid gets to run? |

| Well, I'm not in a position to know all the laws governing the border, but to extradite from another country, I would think you would need more than just probable cause. All of a sudden, a government gets pretty protective of its people when another country comes around accusing their citizen of a crime.
