Cut off thumbs

RENO, Nevada (AP) -- The mayor of Las Vegas has suggested that people who deface freeways with graffiti should have their thumbs cut off on television.

"In the old days in France, they had beheadings of people who commit heinous crimes," Mayor Oscar Goodman said Wednesday on the TV show "Nevada Newsmakers."

Goodman said the city has a beautiful highway landscaping project and "these punks come along and deface it."

"I'm saying maybe you put them on TV and cut off a thumb," the mayor said. "That may be the right thing to do."

Goodman also suggested whippings should be brought back for children who get into trouble.

Another panelist on the show, state university system regent Howard Rosenberg, said cutting off the thumbs of taggers won't solve the problem and Goodman should "use his head for something other than a hat rack."

There’s a marking paint that construction guys use for marking the ground. They marked the sidewalk in front of my place for the water main a couple of years ago and it’s still there. Must be really good stuff and almost imposable to get off with out some strong solvent.

When they catch these punks tagging public or private property, drop their pants and apply several coats of that marking paint to the front side. See how they like wearing a little “graffiti”.

To do a good job I think first they should sand down the area to be painted to make sure it adheres to the surface. We don't want to do a sloppy job.

I painted a house for a lady, the side of the house had been tagged for all of us to see. She didnt have much $ so I gave her a bargain, practically free paintjob. When I finished she said, "I just dont know what Ill do If they do this again" so I said, " I didnt mention to you that you have a 1 year graffiti gaurantee?" ......9 months later....She calls me They got me again, she said. So I had to honor my deal and repainted the west side of her house. So Ive got no compassion for them punks. "Off with their heads" I say.
