They don't WANT to listen.

The want government to fail at EVERYTHING so it can all be privatized and profitized no matter who gets hurt.

That's why when Republicans get into government it goes to crap, they want it that way.

They'sll stand back and tell me "it's because you hate Bush. Give him a chance" all day long and not listen to why I I think W is an idiot.

Next year at this time lets see if they give the new President a chance to prove him or herself. Or if they just stand back and toss up road blocks to try to make it fail.

That's just one thing...just about everything they say is like that. People just listen and don't ask any questions. They take everything at face value and get caught up in the slogans and such..."yes we can"....sheeeeeeeesh

Ok Words...first of all unlike the Dems I don't want the gov't to fail. I want success...success in Iraq and so on. Do you think the Dems want us to be successful in Iraq? Do you think they want our economy to be successful right now? If over the next few months out economy caught fire what would that do to the Dems campaign?

Second of all privatization is usually a good thing. When you have competition the consumer wins. Name one Gov't program we can turn to and say "wow, they really know what they are doing and they sure do it effieciently". I can name MANY private business's that can say that. The Dems have thrown up road blocks for the Bush admin at every turn.

The Military? Are you kidding? Do you think the military is efficient? We have a good leadership and command structure but efficient we are not....lol.

The police and fire are local.

I would privatize social security first and foremost. Think about all the money a working person pays into the "social security pot" each year. Soon there will be more people taking out than paying in which is going to be a problem. Imagine if when you started working (16 or 17 years old) and a portion of your SS was invested into your OWN account and drew say an avg of 8% until you retired. We would have a lot of people retiring with money to live on and NOT dependent on the federal gov't to feed them. (There are certain parties that don't want to lose control of these funds so are against this)

There are many things that could be privatized and be better off for it. There should be some gov't regulation though. I believe education should be somewhat privatized. Gov't is doing a very poor job of running schools.

Some more progressive states are taking steps in privatizing gov't all the way down to the local levels and having success in most cases. EVEN the military has contracted out things or privatized in order to more efficient.

We focus on short term priorities sometimes without thinking about the long term cost. (Social Security) which will eventually leave us in a position to either raise taxes, cut benefits and services or privatize.

When things are privatized it brings competition and when you have competition you usually get good results at a good price. The consumer wins.

Everyone is clamoring for more gov't this and more gov't that but in essence who can spend your money better..you or the federal gov't? When your tax money hits the gov't it's wasted on so many levels that it's sick and that's by both parties.

It sounds like Wordy would like to see less privately run enterprises and more government oversight. He probably would support some kind of central planning in charge of manufacturing and farming. We could have a series of five year plans to build this government run utopia. That sounds progressive.

Reforming Gov't through competition.

In a moment of apparent epiphany, Mario
Cuomo is recorded as having said “It
is not government’s obligation to provide
services, but to see they’re provided.”
However sensible and straightforward this
notion seems, it remains heresy in much
of American public administration.
