The Democrat debate that we really want to see

Is everyone as bored with debates as I am? It’s the same stuff over and over again. (except for the flip-flops) Wouldn’t it be fun if one of the candidates just let loose and showed us what we suspect they are really like?

Like that'll ever happen!

I hate politics with a passion. It's probably because I just don't get it. Both sides sling mud at the other in hopes they can expose who they really are, all the while pushing their own looser toward the role of running the country.

I've never been the type to fall for the BS both side fabricate to make the other look bad. I don't trust what I hear on the news, and these popularity polls that claim to show "How the country feels" are no more accurate than asking the same question to a group of Kindergarten students.

With that in mind, here is my view of the 2008 race taken not from the media but from the people on the streets.

I think over confidence by the Democrats may cost them the White house in 2008. That over confidence, amusingly enough, comes from believing their own propaganda. This led them to believe the 2008 election was a shoe-in for the them, and they chose to double down the bet by wanting to be the first to put a female or black as President.

What I've found on the streets is that with all the hate-Bush tactics delivered by the left, and the media claims of the corrupt Bush administration, almost every person I've talked to says they would reelect Bush if it were an option. Actually I find myself feeling the same way.

And this claimed Americans no longer supporting the war on terror. I think the drop in support at the polls is nothing more than the Left changing their minds to boost the propaganda. You know, they were for the war before they were against it, so now that flip flop is evident in the polls. A drop in the Left's support of the war, not the Rights.

I may be wrong, but I have never felt Hillary was ever a contender. Obama just sets off the warning bells for me. Nothing more than player. A very good player, but a player none the less. I think as his sugar coating starts to melt away, and it is, people will see him for what he is.

That leaves McCain. I don't care much for McCain based solely on his past dealings with immigration. As someone else said, don't listen to the crap being said during an election but judge them on their past actions. Dennis Miller this morning on the news said "I would have never believe it, but I believe McCain just won the election as of yesterday."

You're hanging out on the wrong streets!

Hum? thats what my parents used to say!

I think my problem is trying to use common sense, where common sense doesn't apply. Politics.

Here is an example that cracks me up.

The whole WMD argument:

On the news I saw labs found in Iraq that were used in making chemical/biological agents. On the news I saw canisters used to store chemical/biological agents, and some which still contained traces of Sarin. On the news I saw rockets found in Iraq, which they were not supposed to have, capable of delivering chemical/biological agents. Yet because they did not find a rocket on a launching pad with a chemical/biological warhead attached, there were no WMD's in Iraq and Bush lied.

Now I'm not saying all this evidence proves for a fact the Iraq had WMD's, but I would go as far as to say the evidence certainly points to the possibility. And yet in this case, evidence is not enough. Only a WMD in hand, and maybe not even then, would be required before some people would admit that Iraq could well have WMD's.

The whole Evolution argument:

I have seen on the news that because there is evidence that evolution happened on a micro level, it's proof that all living organisms evolved from the same parent. Never mind that no such evidence of macro evolution ever happening has been found, kind of like the missing WMD's, the fact that evidence shows it could have happened is good enough to call it a fact.

Now I'm not saying macro evolution never happened, only that so far there is no evidence to support the theory. I suppose thats why it's still only a theory. It's just that some feel there is enough evidence for them to call it a fact. Hum? kind of like the WMD theory isn't it?

So as you can see common sense does not apply when it comes to political issues.

That’s your problem Detector.

Consider that a man spends 20 years in a church and failed to see a problem with a hate talking minister. That qualifies him to identify problems that a leader needs to identify.

Wait, he later says he did see the problem but didn’t do anything about it. That experience qualifies him to unite and heal the problems of the country.

Not stepping up and dealing with the minister shows us that he’s qualified to step up and deal with foreign leaders.

He even showed us how he reaches across the color line with his recent comments;

Quote:
"The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity," he said. "But she is a typical white person. If she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know. . .there's a reaction in her that doesn't go away and it comes out in the wrong way."
“A typical white person”? What would the response be if I said “A typical black person” or “A typical Hispanic person”? Will someone please drag Granny out from under the bus?

Just forget common sense Detector and catch the fee-var!

Just say yes we can!

After all, if spending 20 years listening to a man preach hate qualifies one to heal our racial divides, I guess any old KKK member could do that since the KKK member has been close to the issue.

May as well put Larry, Curly and Moe on the ballot.
I'm afraid that what we're stuck with........come to think of it Moe showed more leadership than any of the a**holes we have to choose from.

As a "typical white person" I personally don't see anything unusual in his statement. Probably pretty accurate actually. I would say the same is probably true no matter what color, but then I'd be labeled a racist if I singled out any particular race. Ah the advantage of not being white.

See I can make fun of white people because I am white, but as a "typical white person", I am not allowed to make fun of any race but white people. But it's OK. As a "typical white person" I have excepted this fact and I am perfectly fine with it. I am proud to be white so this sorta stuff is no big deal.

That being said. I do think Mr. Obama is beginning to expose his "typical" side.

I am a typical "white person" too.

Just like MOST typical White People ....I was raised to be tolerant and kind to everyone...even tho I grew up during racial barriers.

I was a young adult during MLK and agreed whole heartily with the movement.

Being a military brat you were exposed to all races.... plus I went to schools where "whites" were the minority, as my children did.

I know I cannot possibly understand the plight of the "black man"... but I do understand this...

Its all about choice.

You can choose to be a victim of any number of life experiences. You can
do drugs, be a gangsta, spread your seed and move on to another baby mama. they can all go on welfare cause it ain't your problem. You can get a grill... do your gang signs, wear you pants where the crotch is dragging the ground and you wonder why no one will hire you. And if you were lucky enough to find someone to hire you ... You would be pissed off at starting at the bottom and working your way up.... So you have to find something illegal to support yourself. This includes all races... I remember when wearing jeans ment your were a juvenile delinquent ....and for God's sake don't own a leather jacket.

So you bond with your kind and stand in groups and plot your next move... and you have the nerve to wonder why folks want to avoid you... IT AINT JUST OLD WHITE WOMEN that avoid you.. Its anyone that knows what you are capable of .................Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze

Been there done that ....got lost going thru Memphis ( if I remember correctly) ...got off on the wrong exit....I do remember it was Crump Blvd (sorry K157) driving on a street with groups of black men on every corner, neighborhood in shambles... cars on blocks....Every eye on who was drivin thru ...... Hell I locked the car doors and prayed to find the interstate soon... AND MY HUSBAND WAS WITH ME !

It is about how you are perceived. Its always been that way. Perception is Reality.....right or wrong. If you want to survive with the least amount of heartache...you have to be perceived as a "normal" person to excel in this world. And it will serve you favorably to stay out of controversy.

That includes whether you smoke cigars...solicit prostitutes or you go to a militant church for 20 years.

Sorry bout your luck .....you chose a career of public scrutiny .... and hopefully you have the intelligence to know when something you are doing could be detrimental to you. If you aint smart enough to figure that out for your own personal life then you are not a good decision maker for the people you serve.

Its either you are stupid or your attitude is..............................."SO"

I'm glad you have finally got that Jeeze...lol I've been beating that drum on here constantly. Choice....it's not just blacks it whites. When people make bad choices with their lives they expect the gov't to bail them out. Free healthcare...free this, free that. Apply what you said to ANYONE....if you make bad choices don't bitch about not being able to find a job. Life is about choices.
