But as I've already said change is never all good or all bad, it depends on your situation, expectations, and how you view the world.

Why are so against "socialised medicine"? Shouldn't a decent civilised society always look after its sick and needy? Or should the maintenance of people's good health always depend on how many dollars they have in their bank account?

Socialized medicine doesn't work...even in your country. We have beat this horse on here more than once....Medicine that the gov't run. NAME ONE entity that the U.S. Gov't runs that you can sit back and say..."wow, now that's an efficient, well run organization.....

The fact is...you can't...and you want to turn YOUR health over to THEM? GO FOR IT.

You're wrong my friend - anyone, regardless of the amount of money they have in the bank, regardless of whether or not they have medical insurance, can get access to a doctor FREE, can go into hospital and have whatever medical treatment is necessary FREE. It works and gives dignity and care to those who need it.
Private insurance is only really interested in "healthy" people who can afford to pay premiums - it's out to make a profit from a persons misfortune of suffering from ill health.
If you believe in the law of the jungle where the fittest survive, then Army1 you are correct in your statement - if however you believe in a civilised society based on Christian values then you look out for your neighbour - the second most important commandment is "love your neighbour". A society that does not care for its sick and needy is a selfish doomed society that is bound to fail.

Ok...first of all you can look out for your neighbor sans the "christian values"....."Christian values" (a paradox in my mind) will look out for your neighbor as long as he's not Gay, muslim, wiccan etc....

2nd of all...talk about dignity...in some socialized medicine society's I have read of people that are older being turned down for care because it was too expensive and basically the cost/benefit of spending a lot of gov't money on someone that is 90 and isn't working and contributing to the tax pot gets bumped. What's your tax rate there?

Take the word "Christian" out of the equation if you like, and exchange it for "human", if it makes you feel better. If a person is suffering or in danger of dying then to my mind it doesn't matter whether they are gay, muslim, rich or poor, black, yellow or white, (and add whatever else you like), the number one priority is to help that person as a fellow human being who is in need.

Whilst our National Health Service, (NHS), is not perfect, it does offer free help to everyone, no matter where they live in the UK, and no matter how rich or poor they are, no matter what race, colour or religion they are. As I've said before to my mind, the mark of a civilised society is how it treats its most vunerable and needy, the sick, the elderly, and the disabled. The law of the jungle, dog-eat-dog, where the strongest & richest survive and let the weak & vunerable go under, should have no place in a society that classes itself civilised.

Let me ask you a question: do your American health care companies want to insure older, more elderly people? These are the very people that probably need help. How do they manage in their retirement years?
The NHS does not operate on any age restrictions, it offers universal care to all UK subjects.
Our income tax rates are: (I'll roughly convert it from £ to $)
$0 - $72,000 20%
Over $72,000 40%

I guess he told you Army! That 20% and free health care doesn't look bad to me, although I could do without the $10 gasoline.

Unbelievable......You're trying to tell Binky how his own country's healthcare system doesn't work.

You keep making assumptions, he keeps telling you from FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE that your assumptions are wrong, and you just can't accept the fact that maybe you don't know everything about a National Healthcare System.

Army, this is one argument you aren't going to win. Binky has first hand knowledge of how a National Healthcare System works, and you don't. I'm taking his word for it.

I think this might be the first time I've ever used this for real...
