I guess that makes millions of Catholics who go to church regularly but practice birth control hipocrytes.....

From what I heard Obama chose this church for a good reason. Politics. He felt he had no connection with the "black sector" and Rev. Wright was his ticket to make himself more appealing to blacks. While many will not admit it, what Rev. Wright represents is how many American blacks feel about their place in society. Obama's roots didn't follow the average black mans, and he knew he Rev. Wright's church would give him the acceptance he was looking for.

I'm with you JW. I just get a gut feeling that Obama is much better at playing voters than most want to believe.

I'd love it if he went to NO church. But the fact that he attends isn't going to keep me from supporting him.

What's more important to you...a candidate that says the right things or does the right things?

I guess you are right. Not to hijack this thread into a religion topic but if you choose to follow a certain religion and that doctorine and then choose to only follow what suits YOU and what is easy for you...doesn't that make you a hipocrite?

YOu are both "wright". He's a politician...along with Clinton and McCain. Playing voters is what they all do best or they wouldn't be where they are now....

Which is WHY you can't really take what they say at face value. You have to look at their actions and their record and let that speak a bit for them.

A candidate the "does the right thing" is in the eye of the beholder. I could argue that the Bush tax cuts or going to Iraq are the right thing but the next peson could argue otherwise.

Exactly. Your idea of the right thing, and my idea of the right thing are at totally opposite ends of the spectrum.

A candidate can run by saying how they will "create jobs in Ohio" or whatever...it's easy to say but how will they DO IT? Promises, promises....A lot of the things the Dem Candidates will cost a lot of money plus they would have to pass the Senate and House and be funded. That's not automatic. Some people believe that just because Hillary Clinton says Nafta is bad that it will go away...that's not really true. That goes back to what we were talking about in another thread about how much can a President REALLY do to effect you as an individual?
