Know when I will feel better Army ? I will feel better when America citizens are not used by a nation rich with oil, depending on our taxes to rebuild what we have destroyed....while removing the tyrant that we put in power in the first place.( Get out your credit card for the rest of the clean up Mohammad. I wont live to see the day when times are better, because its gonna take the rest of my life for ANY ADMINISTRATION to clean up the mess that King George has created for himself and his cohorts amusement and profits.

Wow……..what a hornets nest…….

I post some stats, with an explanation of why numbers are not important, and somehow I dishonor and diminish the troops. This coming from someone, IMHO, that does the same damn thing every time they open their mouth on this subject. Especially when it is referred to as Bush’s war. Probably also from someone who has never worn a uniform outside of a McDonald’s one.

I guess if one thinks of a threat merely in terms of death and destruction they can inflict……Saddam was not one. I agree, on a scale of 1 to 10 he ranked around 3 in that area. Unfortunately Iran ranks higher. If they were to control the oil, the damage to not only us but the world would be hard to fathom. Bush has done what every politician since WW2 has done….let public opinion dictate how to run a military situation. I agree that it should have been handled better, I agree that it is a mess, I even agree that Afghanistan should be handled better.

No FD.....can't say I ever wore a uniform of any kind. Only had uniform shirts in dispatch.

But I sure as hell had a husband that wore a uniform for 22 years. Altho we were divorced after 19 years, I certainly didn't believe he needed to die from a brain tumor, which could have possibly been from exposure to napalm, in a nasty assed jungle that he spent two tours of his life in and the US should have not been involved in. BECAUSE IT WAS A WAR THAT WAS UN-WINABLE We were not attacked by North Vietnam.... and we were not attacked by Iraq.

Course that is just my vivid imagination and my mistrust of the system that did the brain surgery and didn't put a stint for drainage, ( The wonderful VA) and his brain swelled and he had a stroke. He was never offered any kind of therapy just shipped off to a nursing home and died after 4 years at the age of 48 in a vegetative state.

And you say I diminish the troops ? Bullshit !!! Our government diminishes the troops...

Lets just pull our population out of there. Sounds like a bloodbath.

Numbers mean nothing except to those who wish to make their statement sound more exploitive.
Sorry to pull this so far out of order....but a lot of these people also died in a "war" of sorts.....the war on drugs and the war between gangs. Not as many old people as you would think. Wyandotte is beginning to be scarier than Kansas City.

You are correct, but society wants to ignore those wars in hopes that they will go away. If you don't see it happening, it didn't happen. Same as with child abuse, starvation, etc.

I guess I shouldn't expect any better from those who are grasping at straws to defend their support of this debacle.
I am not sure how you think the Soldiers sacrafice was forced. All branchs of the military are 100% voluntary. There is no draft like there was in the past. Everyone who joins knows there is a chance they will go to war and not come home. They make that decision on there own. I also don't know how you think that comparing accidents and deaths in the states cheapens the deaths of the Soldiers in Iraq. If I am in Iraq I know that everyday may be my last. Here we take a lot of things for granted. Sounds like you are just pissed off because it is safer living in Iraq then it is in the US.

I don't know as I would go so far as to say it's safer in Iraq than the US, but it's definitely safer in Iraq than some parts of KC. Maybe you should come recruit up here, Army Strong - some of these kids are pretty good shots!

To be honest I have not read every post on this thread...but here's what I think...

If we pull out of Iraq and bring our troops home Iraq would be taken over by either Iran, Al Queda, Taliban or a combination of all three. All three are terrorists organizations and would love to control Iraq. It would become a safe haven for terrorists and become a base of operations for terrorist attacts against you, me, our children and our grandchildren.

If we leave now we will never go back. No President would ever be willing to stick their neck out and put troops back in and have a military presence in that country again. (just what the terrorists want)

We will NEVER win the war against terrorists! We will always have young men and women die in an effort to guard our families and our homeland. The best we can ever hope for is to hold the enemy at bay, maybe just long enough to find out where they plan on attacking us next and hopefully, just hopefully, stop another 9/11.
