With what? How long will you spend in prison after you do? If Obama is elected, do you think the Dems will override this crap? I'd like to think so, but I don't. I understand that if guns are banned, only criminals will have them....but I have to have the peace of mind that comes with knowing I can defend myself if I have to.
Dems really won't successfully pass legislation saying you will go to prison for legitimately shooting someone in your own home who comes in and is a direct threat to your person. We already know that in Texas all it takes is a direct threat to your PROPERTY and you can shoot 'em. That might be..a little overboard.

If they were to pass that, you'd have a lot of left-leaners like me also upset with that; which leads me to believe they wouldn't go that hardcore.

And yes, if guns are outright banned (never going to happen..it's not even a practical thought) you're right, only criminals would have them (inherently..) but I get what you're saying.

Bear in mind history shows us that the most restrictive gun laws are a trademark of dictators and tyrants.
Now that's just downright false...

What is clear and irrefutable is that Obama wants to play on both sides of the Second Amendment fence. The good news is that he does not do it very well. Actions do speak louder than words.

One Democrat President + a Democrat Congress means a Democrat agenda shoved up our behinds sideways. If you don’t know what was proposed this year, it’s at the link below. The sponsor’s names don’t have a D or R behind them but I think folks are smart enough to figure it out.

FIREARMS LEGISLATION IN THE 110th CONGRESS

I don't seem to understand the association between gun control laws and genocide.

What is the link?

Seems to me like they just had INSANE governments and gun control was the least of their issues.

Jewish armed resistance in Warsaw.

Quote:
The Warsaw Ghetto revolt was the largest Jewish uprising against the Nazis and was the first armed revolt in occupied Europe. In general up until this point the Nazis had had no trouble in rounding up in mass arrest those Jews destined for the gas chambers. When the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1942 realized that meek submission to the slaughter did not lessen their chance of death, but increased it, they decided upon a plan of armed resistance. The Jews had few or no weapons and only in the Warsaw Ghetto did the Polish underground supply them with 60 pistols of poor quality with a very limited amount of ammunition. In January 1943, the first armed resistance by the Jewish fighting organization was carried out with only 10 pistols. For three months after Nazis soldiers did not dare venture into the ghetto. Thereafter the Nazis under Himmler decided that they would have to burn down the ghetto house by house in order to conquer it. They proceeded to do so, although not without considerable difficulty in the face of armed Jewish resistance fighters.

In the words of one of the survivor leaders of the Jewish ghetto in Warsaw:

"Many had thought that the 18th of January was the beginning of the final liquidation of the ghetto. However, the shock of encountering resistance evidently forced the Germans to discontinue their work in order to make more thorough preparations. They must have overestimated our strength, and thought that they were dealing with a well-organized, well-armed resistance movement. Little did they know that our insurrection was nothing but a feeble beginning out of which a really organized, well-armed fighting force would eventually develop. At the time we had only 10 pistols. Had the Germans known the truth, they would probably continued the raids. Jewish resistance would have been nipped in the bud as a minor, insignificant episode. By interrupting the extermination action on the 21st of January, the Germans allowed us to better organize and arm ourselves."
IB Holocaust Project: Armed Warsaw

The Jews started with only 10 pistols and held the German army off for over a month instead of politely going to the gas chamber. NEVER trust politicians that don’t recognize our rights to arms.

I had never seen that HWY... thanks for posting and that should be a lesson for any country.

I always wondered why so many millions of people just passively went to the camps and extermination.

You know I feel so stupid now, I had never considered the right to bear arms issue... WOW !!!

Without sarcasm, really a touching story HWY.

But, really, what's gun control have to do with that?

Also, we have to look at this practically. If we really "banned" guns (I don't think it'd ever happen) it really wouldn't keep them out of the hands of the bad guys that REALLY want them. They're GOING to get them. We all know this.

But why make it easy on them? Why not make extremely strict background checks and longer wait periods. No reason to just hand criminals easy access to handguns and assault rifles.

We need to find some middle ground here. While guns suck, they're not ever, ever going to completely go away. Just like sex, drugs, and rock n roll. So let's find the best solution for those who responsibly own weapons and keeping them out of the hands of violent offenders.

Do people actually read posts or do they just spank or thank based on whose side they traditionally take?
