On the Second Amendment, Don’t Believe Obama

Yes, I belong to the NRA and this came to me so I am reprinting it here as I do sincerely believe that Obama is a clear and present danger to our Second Amendment rights.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It is now time for gun owners to take a careful look at just where apparent nominee Barack Obama stands on issues related to the Second Amendment. During the primaries, Obama tried to hide behind vague statements of support for “sportsmen” or unfounded claims of general support for the right to keep and bear arms.

But his real record, based on votes taken, political associations, and long standing positions, shows that Barack Obama is a serious threat to Second Amendment liberties. Don’t listen to his campaign rhetoric! Look instead to what he has said and done during his entire political career.

FACT: Barack Obama voted against the confirmation of 2 of the 5 Justices that affirmed an individual right to keep and bear arms.

FACT: Barack Obama voted to allow reckless lawsuits designed to bankrupt the firearms industry.1

FACT: Barack Obama wants to re-impose the failed and discredited Clinton Gun Ban.15

FACT: Barack Obama voted to ban almost all rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.3

    who use firearms in self-defense.5

FACT: Barack Obama supports gun owner licensing and gun registration.6

FACT: Barack Obama refused to sign a friend-of-the-court Brief in support of individual Second Amendment rights in the Heller case.

FACT: Barack Obama opposes Right to Carry laws.7

FACT: Barack Obama was a member of the Board of Directors of the Joyce Foundation, the leading source of funds for anti-gun organizations and “research.”8

FACT: Barack Obama supported a proposal to ban gun stores within 5 miles of a school or park, which would eliminate almost every gun store in America.9

FACT: Barack Obama voted not to notify gun owners when the state of Illinois did records searches on them.10

FACT: Barack Obama voted against a measure to lower the Firearms Owners Identification card age minimum from 21 to 18, a measure designed to assist young people in the military.11

FACT: Barack Obama favors a ban on standard capacity magazines.12

FACT: Barack Obama supports mandatory micro-stamping.13

FACT: Barack Obama supports mandatory waiting periods.2

FACT: Barack Obama supports repeal of the Tiahrt Amendment, which prohibits information on gun traces collected by the BATFE from being used in reckless lawsuits against firearm dealers and manufacturers.14

FACT: Barack Obama supports one-gun-a-month handgun purchase restrictions.16

FACT: Barack Obama supports a ban on inexpensive handguns.9

FACT: Barack Obama supports a ban on the resale of police issued firearms, even if the money is going to police departments for replacement equipment.9

FACT: Barack Obama supports mandatory firearm training requirements for all gun owners and a ban on gun ownership for persons under the age of 21.9

I read that also Value Pack, it is a shame what he's trying to pull on honest gun owners. Have you seen his 10 point plan to change the 2nd?

    1. Ban use of firearms for home defense

    2. pass federal laws eliminating your Right To Carry

    3. Ban the manuvacture, sale, and possession of handguns.

    4. Close down 90% of the gun shops in America

    5. Ban rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport hunting.

    6. Increase federal taxes on guns and ammunition by 500%

    7. Restore voting rights for five million criminals including those who have been convicted of using a gun to commit a violent crime.

    8. Expand the Clinton semi-auto ban to include millions more firearms.

    9. Mandate a government issued license to purchase a firearm

    10. Appoint judges to the US Supreme Court and Federal Judiciary who share his views on the Second Amendment.

    Taken from Sept 08 Rifleman

Allowing him to take this office, would immediatly create billions or criminals who are just looking to protect themselves, their families, and their friends.

Between this, and the way he's planning on raising taxes, we're all in for a world of hurt.

The biggest problem with Obama is that most folks just can’t believe how much of an extremist he really is.

Taking extreme measures to limit guns is an extremist I'm ok with.

Not if he is limiting my ability to own a handgun for my personal protection as a law abiding citizen.

Bubba, ideally, I disagree with you.

    Practically, I can't.

What I don't have a problem with is legislation that defines what "defending" yourself means. I'm sure there are legal precedents; it's just self-defense can be extremely ambiguous and abused.

Don't get me wrong. If someone breaks into your home without concern to your person or property and is a direct threat, shoot the mfer.

With what? How long will you spend in prison after you do? If Obama is elected, do you think the Dems will override this crap? I'd like to think so, but I don't. I understand that if guns are banned, only criminals will have them....but I have to have the peace of mind that comes with knowing I can defend myself if I have to.

Our firearm rights are some of the most abused of any of our rights. Congress claims authority for gun laws under what’s known as the commerce clause. The Constitution grants Congress the authority to regulate interstate commerce. The intent was to prevent states from creating tariffs against other states creating unfair market conditions. Since most products, including firearms, are transported across state lines in the normal course of business Congress claims it has the authority to regulate every aspect of just about everything. This includes how you, the end user, may use these products long after you have taken that product out of the system of commerce.

Bear in mind history shows us that the most restrictive gun laws are a trademark of dictators and tyrants.

My house has been broken into, and I often hear gunshots in my neighborhood from the wanna-be gangster's. I want to be able to defend myself from the criminals that are already armed and showing that they are not against firing off rounds in my neighborhood. Had a car in my next door neighbors driveway shot at and it had a bullet hole in it awhile back. There was a drive by shooting at a house about 2-3 blocks from my house after that. Then just last Friday or Saturday I heard three rounds fired off again, don't know where that happened.

You can bet I'm going to arm myself!!
