You state that you are going to vote for Obama then you talk about the VP candidate not having enough experience...what a contridiction.

Obama, Clinton, McCain...basically none of those are going to "bring the troops home" any quicker than the next. The bottom line is that once they are sworn into office (and probably before) they will set down with all the leader of the military and other key leadership and get briefed on the situation on the ground. A good president will listen to their advisers or experts and take into consideration what they say. For Obama or Clinton to stand on a podium months ago with no assessment of what is going on in Iraq on the ground and say "I would bring the troops home in 6 months" is not only ludicris it is utterly and completely irresponsible. What's worse than them saying that is the jack ass Americans that swallow it.

Oh yeah... the surge worked. Thanks again G'dub.

...and no thanks to the "do nothing dems" who tried on more than one occassion to defund the troops overseas.... Wasn't it Dingy Harry Reid who stood up in front of the world and announced defeat in Iraq?

It’s because of men and women like yourself that it worked. Thank you Sgt T.

The guy who pushed Bush for the surge should get promoted to CIC.

I see the left-wingers are already in overdrive trying to smear Palin. Here’s a little something about the firing of the state trooper. It’s called cleaning house and dumping folks that won’t do their jobs.

Her office has a released a recording of one of the calls, between Frank Bailey, who oversees boards and commissions for Palin, and Lt. Rodney Dial of the state police. Here's an excerpt, based on a partial transcript produced by the Daily News, in which Bailey describes his concerns:

Quote:
And there’s a gentleman by the name of Mike Wooten, who’s a trooper in the Valley. … There’s a family tie with the governor there and so I think because of that, my understanding is, you know, Walt [Monegan] has been very reluctant to take any action. But there are some very clear facts out there that — and these things actually happened — that he Tasered his 11-year-old kid, he drove drunk in a patrol car, he shot a cow moose out of season. … The Palins can’t figure out why nothing is going on. Here’s the problem that’s gonna happen. … There is a possibility because Wooten is an ex-husband of the governor’s sister and there is a custody situation, there is a strong possibility that the governor herself may get subpoenaed to talk about all this stuff on the stand in the coming months. … It would be ugly. I don’t think anybody wants that but, you know, Todd and Sarah [Palin] are scratching their heads, ‘Why on earth hasn’t this, why is this guy still representing the department?’ He’s a horrible recruiting tool, you know. From their perspective, everybody’s protecting him.

Yeah, and the right wingers haven't been trashing Biden at all

I just think its funny how the republicans attacked Obama for being too inexperienced, then McCain picks someone with the least amount of experience possible. Dems attacked McCain for being too old, then Obama choose Biden. Sad to say, but with a black candidate and a senior citizen candidate, the VP is going to be as close to the presidency as ever.

NOW having said that if black people turn out in record numbers and vote 95% Democrat like they usually do then that might be a problem.
Don't forget what an impact first time, young voters might have........if they come out in record numbers, you'll really have a problem.......IMO.

Isn't a time table for withdrawl what some Democrats have been asking for all along? And wasn't it GWB who refused to discuss this initially? And now, he's doing exactly what those Democrats were asking for to begin with? And all of a sudden, HE gets the credit for setting a time table for withdrawl, when in actuality it was the Iraqi Government that wanted us out of their country and asked for a firm date of departure?

I’m going to try to ignore the sexist remarks by a couple of others and attempt address your questions. At the time the Democrats wanted a timetable it was with the idea that Iraq was lost, give up, declare defeat and come home. The Bush plan all along was to turn it around, get Iraq where it could take care if itself and then come home in victory. Over time it is turning around because of the surge that McCain pushed for and Democrats opposed. With Anbar being turned over it was announced to expect more troops home this fall. This is the Bush plan despite what you’ve been told.

As for the Democrats claiming the timetable was their idea, it’s like when we were 15 and in a hurry to have a driver’s license. You keep saying that you want a DL, you want a DL, you want a DL and one day you get that DL. It didn’t happen any faster because you kept wishing for it. It happened when the time was right. Imagine how stupid you would look claiming that the state came around to your way of thinking because you finally met the requirement that the state had in the first place.
