| Convention Predictions Gone Awry Since the primaries ended, I have closely followed the many Dodge Board political threads hoping to gain some "insight" as to what kind of drama to expect from the insidious Democrats when they gathered for their upcoming convention. Fortunately for me, there was a profusion of speculation, promising all sorts of high crimes and juicy scandals when the Democrats invaded Denver. (links to follow) I eagerly read these bold and tantalizing predictions of lawless riots and violent protests in the streets, countered by officials toting "brown notes" and "pepper weapons". A post was made mentioning the convention was over budget and under funded. Oh my! Would they be able to pull it off? Would the whole sordid affair be postponed due to insufficient funds? Added to this commotion was Obama moving his acceptance speech to Invesco Field. It seems this calculated deed had the potential to blow the budgets of the very media sent to cover the event. Why the possibility existed they may have to cut short their coverage. Imagine the excitement that would bring! Of course the biggest and most anticipated story line was that of the “Clinton machine”. The possibility of super delegates and well placed Clinton loyalists turning their backs on Obama and pledging their undying support and love to the hussy wife of that cigar wielding clown from Arkansas! All done so she might steal what was rightfully hers, namely, her party’s nomination. The Clinton coup of ’08 if you will. After all, one can never underestimate the power and conniving ambition of the Clinton bunch. Wow! Who could resist the temptation to watch, with morbid fascination, this certain debacle? Indeed, so great was my expectation, I found myself in Wal-Mart stocking up on all the popcorn I could get my hands on. And not the cheap stuff either. No sir!! It would be Orville Redenbacher all the way for this special occasion. I was going to make sure and have “plenty on hand”. This was going to be great. Four days of unparalleled excitement. The Olympics, the Super Bowl and the World Series all rolled into one astonishing event. A real live train wreck. On national television, in living color!! Man was I stoked!! Imagine my dismay when the convention came and went without so much as a whimper. No brown notes. No pepper weapons. No new presidential candidate. No coup from the Clintons. No blood on the streets. No media blackouts due to blown budgets. No career ending scandals. No Chicago, a la 1968. Not even a mention of fifty-seven states! Man, do I feel deceived. So much promise. So much potential. So much popcorn. All for naught. I expected more, Dodge Board prognosticators, so much more. Maybe next time…… A place to start A place to start Preparing for the worst. A tense moment for Obama Buyer’s remorse Who will be Barack Obama's VP? Soldiers abroad donate more $ to Obama, Paul, than McCain Republicans under pressure .... Price gouging Freudian slip? Local group to welcome Democrats to Denver convention Don't let the door hit you in the ass.... Obama Sued in Philadelphia Federal Court on Grounds he is Constitutionally Ineligible
