Future VP Palin's teleprompter reportedly broke halfway through her speech and she "winged" it....I may be a little biased but that is pretty amazing to be able to deliver a speech like that without reading it.

There have been times when Obama tries to speak without a teleprompter and you hear a lot of "uh's...and ummms".

Indeed.....they are attacking her for EVERYTHING they can no matter how minute...it's utterly insane. When BO announced Biden they didn't bring up ANYTHING about him negatively. Geeeeeeeeez.

Kind of like people attacking BO when he misspoke on the number of states, or about his statement on airing up your car tires, or the false claim that he is a muslim, or the fact he doesn't always wear a USA lapel pin.

I agree though, Palin has come under an incredible amount of scrutiny. She has a lot of things going against her, mainly the fact she is a powerful conservative female who was unknown by 98% of the country until last week. The mainstream media can't stand that. I wonder how many reporters booked trips up to Alaska to start digging.

I disagree with this woman on almost every policy position, but I like her anyway. Actually I think I have a tiny little spirit-crush on her. She’s Annie Get Your Gun, she’s Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, she’s about a half dozen American populist fantasies all rolled into one. Hockey moms and pitbulls. Yeah. By the way, did any of you catch that inspiring introduction by noted feminist Rudy Giuliani? I forgot to tell you — I think I died a second death during that speech. When I heard him say, “When did they ever ask a man that?”, my brain tried to process what was happening but couldn’t. I think it kind of exploded there inside my skull.

You know the argument: the Hillary-haters don’t really hate women; they just hate Hillary. All the sexism and misogyny thrown at Hillary is for her alone, not for all women.

These women sought to control their bodies and their lives and were murdered for it. Bristol Palin is living her incredibly ordinary teenage life and these modern day Dimmesdales have appointed themselves judge, jury and executioner in her case. How dare a 17 year old “girl” **** without our consent! (Or our participation…)

The media message is coming through loud and clear - white trash women are sluts for us to **** with as we please. They should not aspire to higher than the shanty that houses their (incestuous) family and should know this is not their place to trash. They need to remain breeders and feeders. I mean, how can we associate with these women? They don’t even have Ivy League degrees to make up for their slutitude! If they won’t stay in their place then we will take them out like the trash they are.

Women perceived to be of a lower socio-economic classes, regardless of their color, regardless of their actual status, are treated like trash - cheap, dirty, used, disposable objects undeserving of civil rights and privacy, let alone common decency.

It doesn’t matter that the Republicans were banking on this when they picked Palin. What matters is that the Obama camp — the so-called liberals, the so-called progressives — took the bait and delivered. Oh jesus, did they deliver.

I really think we are witnessing why good people don't run for political office anymore (at least nationally). It appears to me that Palin and her family are just normal people. I may disagree with some of her politics, but you can tell she really cares and she really wants to make the world a better place. So the media attacks her. It seems to run for office anymore, you have to have trunkloads of money and very thick skin. I think those two things are what keep a lot of good people with good ideas from running. If there is anything, no matter how small, in your past, they will find it and blast you for it. Some people just can't deal with their name and their family's name being drug through the mud, so they don't even try. I just hope that whether McCain/Palin win or lose, I hope she is able to stay the same person and that her family isn't adversely affected.
