Thread: Kern - Making Oklahoma Proud

  1. Kern - Making Oklahoma Proud

I have always equated the steady slow decline of morals and ethics to the invention of the TV dinner in 1953 but this makes me feel that Michele Bachman may have a twin seperated at birth.

Sally Kern blames gays, President Obama, divorcees and others for America's economic problems

Oklahoma Representative Sally Kern, a 62-year-old Republican from the 84th district, has written a proclamation blaming America’s current economic problems on “abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse, and many other forms of debauchery.” The proclamation purports to theorize about the state of our economy, but never once mentions greed or irresponsible borrowing and lending. Among the other debauchers Kern cites is the President himself who Kern claims “disregards the biblical admonitions to live clean and pure lives by proclaiming an entire month to an immoral behavior.” By "immoral," she means gay.

I have had many people tell me that when you point your finger at someone, there are three fingers pointing back at you. This is a point which seems lost on most politicians, the Oklahoma Legislature perhaps even more than average. In yet another example of how we make of ourselves a completely polarized nation, the Oklahoma Legislature takes time out of keeping us 36th in the country in education (2007 rankings), 5th and 6th in the country in divorce rates and out-of-wedlock births to tell you that the source of the recession and the so-called degradation of our society is…wait for it…your morality. (I’m sure it’s not yours, probably someone else’s…)

It's unfortunate we have politicians who align pornography or same-sex marriage to the likes of child abuse and sex-trafficking. There are a few disconnects in her brain.

All great religions, in order to escape absurdity, have to admit a dilution of agnosticism. It is only the savage, whether of the African bush or the American gospel tent, who pretends to know the will and intent of God exactly and completely.

  3. If that is what the Oklahoma Legislature is all about I would be willing to put some cha ching on the idea that running all the "immigrants" out of Oklahoma didn't have a damn thing to do with the economy.

I see a real black eye for Oklahoma.

I thought Oklahoma passed legislation to run illegals out, not the immigrants!

Politicians are like diapers, they both need changed occasionally for the same reason.

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist"

The hard work of one will do more than the prayer of millions.

  5. When any group - legal or not is targeted - there is an air of unwelcome blanketed across the whole group. I don't think if there is an overall drop in the hispanic population, that it is all illegal. Of course that's probably what they think but truth is we all know what happens when you take these sort of stands. I am not condoning illegal immigration just like I'm no condoning this womans idea of morality - I do see how people get caught up in the "hate" tho. I think she's a disgrace and I'm sure was right there willing to seperate out those "for" god and those "not for" god. Just seems like that type of crazy person to me. Time has passsed this woman by and I would hope Oklahoma isn't so backwards that she could get come out with this and survive politically.

There are variant levels of sin. From a little white lie to keep from hurting someones feelings,(You look great) to the big ten (murder, coveting, etc.).

Is there more than one level of willful ignorance?

Agreed, and sin is still sin.

I'm not attempting to justify homosexuality...but,

It seems the older I get the more time I find myself look at myself than I do others. I have enough daily struggles and temptations, everything from making a rude comment to my wife, using profanity, gossip, being tempted to be unfaithful. The list can go on and on.

I have enough going on in my own daily life to take care of before I go judge and/or worry if Tom is sleeping with Jack.
