The Associated Press: Palin resigning as Alaska governor

Politico has a pretty sharp take on this but it's not on the net yet.

I think this woman still has a plan. Most seem to think she will be a hell of a fund raiser for the Repubs. Maybe so - she certainly is intriguing to watch. I sure wish her well - whatever her plans may be.

i agree, this is going to be interesting to see how it plays out in the months ahead. she has a lot to learn, but is a refreshing change from much of the status quo.

  3. I hear that there are rumors of another shoe to drop and they don't believe that anything personal would make her resign.

I hope not - I'm tired of dark seedy stuff whether personal or criminal on politicians from both parties.

It would be nice if she just really does want to be involved in the Republican party cause she feels she is of value and doesn't feel it's right to do that while being Gov.

I really do wish her well tho. I enjoy watching her - even if I don't agree with her - she is passionate about her party.

Is she really? Or is she just another opportunist whose political ambition outstretches her capabilities? I'm not saying this because I hold a view either way, I don't, but she doesn't yet convince me.
I've nothing against her, in fact I find her quite attractive in terms of looks & personality but she'll need to get better informed about all things outside Alaska if she has any real serious ambitions about higher office.

  7. I'm well aware that there is "more" to the story, but she said she was being truthful so I will not speculate on her motives. If they aren't true they will come out in time.

I tend to take people at thier word until they prove or are proven otherwise.

I don't think that just because she is of a different political persuasion that she is incabable of telling the truth.

I have found her to be fascinating to watch even if she is a trainwreck at times - she still has that "passion" to suceed in her party's arena. I would never fault a person for trying.

we don't have to speculate on her motives, texkan. the media will do it for us 24-7 for the next few days or weeks.
i, too, think she is fascinating. she seems to be unlike most politicians on either side, true to her convictions and beliefs, and honest. of course, time will tell, but at this point we should take her at her words until, or if, proven othewise. lord knows we certainly need new blood in washington on both sides of the aisle.

Perhaps the “other shoe” in question isn’t dropping, but instead rising in an arc like motion.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    July 4, 2009

On July 3rd, 2009, Governor Sarah Palin announced her intent to resign her gubernatorial duties and transfer the powers of Governor to Lt. Governor Sean Parnell.

Almost immediately afterwards, several unscrupulous people have asserted false and defamatory allegations that the “real” reasons for Governor Palin’s resignation stem from an alleged criminal investigation pertaining to the construction of the Wasilla Sports Complex. This canard was first floated by Democrat operatives in September 2008 during the national campaign and followed up by sympathetic Democratic writers.1. It was easily rebutted then as one of many fabrications about Sarah Palin. Just as power abhors a vacuum, modern journalism apparently abhors any type of due diligence and fact checking before scurrilous allegations are repeated as fact.....

To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as “fact” that Governor Palin resigned because she is “under federal investigation” for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation. This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law. The Alaska Constitution protects the right of free speech, while simultaneously holding those “responsible for the abuse of that right.” Alaska Constitution Art. I, Sec. 5. Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell. These falsehoods abuse the right to free speech; continuing to publish these falsehoods of criminal activity is reckless, done without any regard for the truth, and is actionable.

After what was probably the most vicious personal assaults of any politician in American history it sounds like Sarahcuda is ready to kick some butt. It makes sense if you think about it. Her biggest problem isn’t her intelligence or abilities, it’s the massive left-wing smear machine. If she takes them to task and makes it hurt it will discourage further assaults as she moves forward. Print lies, pay a price. It might be the beginning of cleaning up the mudsling that has trashed the political process in this country.

I'm sorry but the media is not her biggest problem. I don't know what all of those outlets have said about her. What I do know is from what I've watched of her actually speaking on television, and she has more issues than just the media.

All great religions, in order to escape absurdity, have to admit a dilution of agnosticism. It is only the savage, whether of the African bush or the American gospel tent, who pretends to know the will and intent of God exactly and completely.
