There are a number of stations that are now 2.99 a gallon. Both Qwik Shops (2.97 if you use your Dillons card), Loves, JT Conoco, the Sinclar on Central for a few.

This morning Flying J is $2.97. It is nice to see it under $3.00.

Those prices usually aren't as accurate. They show the highest price is 3.17, when it is actually 3.25 at King Kwik Mart on Wyatt Earp. That site has to wait for the station to report prices and kansasgasprices.com uses customers to report prices.

Fuel price

"Could the price in Dodge City be linked to Byron????. Just a question, don't know, a thought perhaps."

I would say yes. I would also guess that it is about $.10 more just from him. Look at Speedy Stop and the River Stop. There are others that they supply as well.

There has been a surge of oil drilling here in KY. This place is oil rich. Article in paper this week explains that since the price per barrel makes it cost effective for them to drill.
This is probably happening everywhere in the U.S.
Question is
Would we be willing to pay a higher cost (which we are anyway) to insure our American drilling companies can make a profit.

Or better yet keep the price of gasoline down as much as possible and reduce our dependency on foreign oil. Oil companies NEED to make a big profit because they dump huge amounts back into exploration to find that oil that we need so badly. They also dump a ton of money into all the stuff the EPA mandates for them. That drives the price of gas up also.

Why bother.

I have changed my opinion about this....

As a person who travels all of Western and Central Kansas, I can tell you that Dodge City is among the lowest fuel in half the state. Liberal and Garden are sometimes as low as we are, but not usually any lower. Wichita is a few cents cheaper than us and Kansas City is usually the same. North, around I-70, it's about 10 cents higher than us. Around the coastal sates, its almost 15-20 cents higher.

We are really fortunate here in Dodge City to have low gas prices- it hasn't always been that way. You can thank Loves and the Truck Stop out east of town for sparking the gas war in Dodge City and getting prices in line and even under the national average.

With the exception of the price of gas on that place on Central by the events center. He's always about 10 cents a gallon more than everyone else. I don't know how he stays in business. He's the guy with the "clowns have tents, dent repair signs". I first thought at that price it much be full service....
