I was wondering if anyone knows of any rifle ranges in the Dodge City area or any place to safely shoot rifles and such legally?

There seems to be several in Dodge City, located between 2nd & 6th Ave., and then between A and N. I think the range will move on any given night. If you see any of the bangers hanging in the hood, a shooting range will be close.

Well I had thought about that, but it would surely be the one time a shooting gets investigated and would come back to me, then I would be known as the source of violence in this town. And as much as I could embrace that moniker, the reprecussions towards me would just lead to more violence and then I would get lonely.

That I did, and that is what I intend to do. I'm not going to create my own shooting range here in the ol' hood if I don't find a place. I may know some people who have some land I could maybe use out of town or something.

Just be careful that you have a good bank or backdrop. Rifle slugs can carry a long ways!!

Thank you, good advice. I can't believe people still shoot stuff into the air like they do. Hopefully I'm at least close enough to the targets to hit the backdrop.

I've been gone from the area since 2004 but I remember trying to get used to a rifle and having to go to Garden, Syracuse, or Ulysses for a bona fide range. I never asked at the Trap shooting club in DC, just never saw anyone using one and figured rifles weren't welcome.
