You girls went soft while I was away. The guy came out aggressive, knocking our sport as dull and wrongfully named. He gets what he got! Now that I know he's a UKian, I will agree to stop calling him a "south of the border" and start calling him a bloke. Fair enough?

You're right, I'm sorry for calling it a crime. That was silly of me. Wait, I didn't call it a crime. If you think soccer is as physical as football, you're not paying attention. Didn't you see the big fuss made last week when Beckam got kicked, lightly, in his tummy? Oh my, that was brutal!!! Beckam wouldn't last 1 run up the middle in the NFL. Look, KC, you're missing the point here. Pick is a good kid and a great QB. Breaking his hand may well have cost him a college football career/scholarship. That's a terrible thing to happen to a guy. Then some bloke comes along and makes fun of him, virtually calling him a sissy for not playing with a broken hand. That was in extremely poor taste and you're misguided for defending Mr. Bloke. I don't give 2 hoots in hell if Blokey apologized for making a stupid comment about football. He only did that when he saw his words backfired. His apology should be to Pick. |

Ok I was hasty in my post. I intentionally never said illegal. I could care less what you think about american football. I got the impression you were basically calling the kid a wuss. I wouldn't know him if we bumped into each other, but I would never stand for anyone calling a student athlete a wuss in any case. Sorry if I mis-read your post. Lets move on. and If I didn't - well lets move on.

My point exactly, Zeb. In spite of what Monster thinks of our football as a sport, you don't get a scholarship from a D-1 school by being a sissy. Like you, I don't know Pick from adams, but he had to put in a lot of hard work to get where he got.

I've known Kale and his Dad ever since he was a wet dream. He is a good, hard working, and intelligent kid. And for his Dad, I would rather have him for a Doctor than any of the MD's around Dodge. The AP is calling Kale the best QB prospect to come out of Kansas in the last 20-30 years. That puts him in with some good company!!

If you go back and look at my original post you will notice a link to a news article showing that 'soccer' England international Steven Gerrard was going to play with a broken toe, because the match he was in was so important. Given this, it was not infeasible that for such an important televised/scouts there match that Pick could have played with a broken thumb. If indeed it IS his whole hand that is broken, then of course he wouldn't be able to play, no more than Steven Gerrard could play 'soccer' with a broken whole foot, no matter how many painkilling injections he has had! Let's just agree that both sports are physical, and any kind of physicality opens you up to potential injury. A broken hand/foot is just as important, just as painful, just as inconvenient no matter how it is sustained. Let's also agree that because we live in the land of the free and the home of the brave that I can like 'Soccer' more than 'American Football' and you can like 'Football' more than 'Soccer'. 'Nuff said.
