C'mon man, isn't that splitting hairs? I've broken fingers several times and I can tell you that even 1 broken bone in a hand makes that hand little more than a club for awhile.

If you go back and look at my original post you will notice a link to a news article showing that 'soccer' England international Steven Gerrard was going to play with a broken toe, because the match he was in was so important. Given this, it was not infeasible that for such an important televised/scouts there match that Pick could have played with a broken thumb.
Wrong. That's just wrong. You may think I'm clumsy, but I've also broken several toes, and a broken toe does not equal a broken finger. Heck, they rarely even do anything for a broken toe; just send you home to let it heal. Point being, a LOT more dexterity is required of the hand of a QB, than the foot of a soccer player. You're comparing apples and peanut butter.

Let's just agree that both sports are physical, and any kind of physicality opens you up to potential injury.
Agreed.

Lets allso agree that because we live in the land of the free and the home of the brave that I can like 'Soccer' more than 'American Football' and you can like 'Football' more than 'Soccer'.
Yep! And that same set of rights extends to my right to get offended when I think a star QB has been unfairly maligned.

Can't let it go. You think there's more dexterity necessary in the thumb of a quarterback than the foot of a soccer player? Really? You really need to get out more.

It's not that I wholeheartedly agree with all Monster's posts, it's just that it's not necessary to denigrate a sport like you are.

Not so fast. That's not what I said. I said "Point being, a LOT more dexterity is required of the hand of a QB, than the foot of a soccer player." Hand vs foot, not thumb vs foot. And yes, I think that a QB is more affected by a broken finger than a soccer player is affected by a broken foot. It's just common sense. Not every soccer player is required to kick the ball on every play, but every QB handles the ball on every offensive play. Plus, surely you can see that a lot more finesse is required to throw a football accurately than to kick a soccer ball.

Have you totally forgotten what this thread is about? It's about Pick, who Monster "denigratred" personally. But don't let that minor detail stand between you and my dastardly reaction to it. Monster made an unfair personal remark about a guy and a situation he wasn't that familiar with. I fought fire with fire.

Think what you want. You just don't know much about soccer. A soccer player runs from one end of the field to the other during the entire game (or as long as they're on the field). So a broken foot, whether it's the kicking foot or not, is a problem. Hey, I like football too. I'm just being realistic. Don't blow stuff out of proportion, OK?

Ok, OK, I was not even getting into this, but now I am getting pissed too. Kale not only broke his thumb, but he did serious ligament and tendon damage too. It is on his throwing hand. He did continue to play with it for a few plays, and would probably have continued if the Coaches would have let him. Arkansas wanted it surgically repaired immediately to avoid further problems. This will give it time to heal before the Spring season.

I have had both hand/finger and foot/toe injuries several times in my life. I cannot see trying to grab a football and controlling a throw with the damages that he had. On the other hand, they usually just taped my toe to the adjacent toe, and let it heal. Yeah, it was painful, but in no way did it hamper me as much as the hand injuries!

I really don't give a flying **** what you think about soccer, football, or gangbangs, but I don't like to see you picking on a kid for reasons that are not his fault. I would rather see you say a prayer or a word of encouragement that he heals OK. Can you imagine how he feels anyway, having to sit out his SENIOR season???

I gotcha Mit - and I agree. I just think it's foolish to argue that a soccer player could continue to play with a broken foot/toe. Just like the QB's hand has much to do with where the ball goes after it's thrown, the soccer player's foot has much to do with where the ball goes after it's kicked. Just doesn't show much thought. Flame away!

Would you take "the swing" to a "poker" match??
I think it's just one of those, "my pee-pee is bigger than your pee-pee things"! Kinda like going to an auction!
