| I am never surprised at what i read on this board. An actual argument on which sport is harder and requires more skill, wether a soccer players foot is more or less important as a quarterback's finger..........Cheese and rice this has turned into a ****in joke. As for what Monster originally posted.......fine. His opinion is his and he spoke crassly about Pick by infering he was a pansy. So what. He appologized, for whatever reason, and that should be that unless someone just has a ****in loose hair up their ass that they can't scratch. As for comparing soccer to football, and having coached both and had kids playing in both, Fred, you are an idiot. If a soccer player hurts their toe to where they cannot walk properly, they cannot play. Where as, and no disrespect to Pick, he can still play defense. And if scoring in soccer is so easy....explain why an average football team scores about 4 to 5 touchdowns, plus field goals and an average soccer GAME has only 3 scores between both teams? While soccer is not as physicaly aggressive as football, it is non-stop running for the entire game and is a tad bit harder to run and kick a ball at the same time as just running and carrying it. I bet even you can throw a football 10 yards to a person, can you aim and kick a ball on target 10 yards? They are both tough sports to play and I respect any and all who do or try to do either of them. As for Pick, I wish him the best and a good and speedy recovery. He is a good kid and a gifted athlete and it would be sad if something like this ended his playing.

| Dutch, a fine example of a response. Neither negative nor degrading to anyone. Fred should learn from this. Note: Perhaps a little hypocritical coming from me considering what i had to say in the post prior to this, but i'm willing to accept that tag.

| Dutch, your coaching football and soccer no more makes you informed about sports injury, than my being a plumber makes me an expert on water. Unless you have had broken toes and broken fingers yourself, like I have had, then I think my experience and knowledge of it trumps yours. I see what you're trying to say, but you need to think past the surface and get to the meat of what I was saying. You're wanting to stop thinking at quarterback, and I was thinking of a passer. I'll bet any of you $100 that if you broke a toe, you could still run and you could still kick a soccer ball in the goal. Heck, most soccer players kick with both feet. Now, tear the ligaments in your throwing thumb and attempt to throw a 30 yard pass. Ain't gonna happen. Just ain't, and if you think it is you're full of sh__ as a Christmas turkey. Driftwood, you might want to back your nose out of Dutch's butt and reread his post again and see if you think the same thing about it. This time read first, comment second. About half of you are still sniffing up the wrong tree. It doesn't matter about which injury is more dibilitating to which sport. Monster said something stupid and shallow, he apologized for it and that would be the end of it if you would stop trying to defend something he already agreed was wrong to say. We can go at this as long as you want. . . |

| Yep, when I was filming "Debbie Does Dallas", I tripped over my rope and "sprained the chain". Couldn't perform for at least a couple of days, but I could still kick the starter!! ![]() ![]() |

| Is it imporant!!! [quote=Monster;49320]I'll bite one more time, then I'm going to let this go. I thought it was his thumb that Pick broke (look at posts 1 and 3 at the start of this thread), not his whole hand? Okay I can't be quite anymore, someone hit a nerve.....I lost my fine motor skills and it causes alot of frustration because for one, I have to use one hand to peck this post. Take either one finger or thumb immobile for a day, then tell me Pick did the right thing....... |

| Let's see........ 5 broken fingers, 1 broken knuckle (still missing it by the way), broken wrist (just had it rebuilt last year, bone from my hip was used), 2 broken arms, torn ligaments and tendons in both knees and ankle, 1 broken leg, 3 broken toes, 4 bones broken in my right foot, plus a few concussions, broken rib, broken chest bone, cracked skull........all of them from different injuries while playing sports. Wish to assume some more my friend? I never said I was an expert, but common sense does play a large part in my observation. While being a plumber does not make you an expert on water, it does make you a bit more knowledgeable about the differences, pro's and con's, of PVC versus copper pipe. So, since you obviously have not played or coached soccer, and probably not any football beyond streetball, and I have, then, yeah, it does make me a bit more knowledgeable. While I do not wish to argue this point, and I did not condone or justify the remark made that started this whole mess, I was trying to point out the futility of the argument. Arguing about how tough a sport is, is like trying to prove a negative. Is baseball harder and more tough than basketball? Is track more tough and trying than water polo? ALL sports are tough and ALL athletes are skilled and tough in their chosen field. I understood what Monster was saying in the first post and I took it as a smart-ass sarcastic remark. He apologized for making the remark and I can accept that, especially since he did not get all defensive and start a pissing up the tree contest on which sport is better. He likes soccer and is proud of it, so be it. I like football almost as a second religion, and so be it.
