| But he has to get open to catch the ball...he's not a burner. I guess it wouldn't hurt though...

| I tried to tell you last year ARmy, that Herm is not a Coach!! MIght be a nice guy, but NO COACH. I think they need to fire him and Peterson both!! I bet the Jets were glad that we offered so much for him, that way they didn't have to fire him and get nothing! They pissed me off so bad, that I am going to be a Packers fan this year!! I like OLD GUYS that love to play the game for the fun of it!! Go Favre!! ![]() |

| Speaking of getting fired.....Their high speed kicker that missed that field goal was fired today. The funny thing is...this article was posted about him today... Medlock not fretting after missing first FG Rick Dean, Topeka Capital Journal HOUSTON — Those who think Justin Medlock's time as the Chiefs' kicker is coming to an end may want to reconsider after hearing this. Kansas City's rookie fifth-round draft pick may be just three more missed field goals from greatness. "I missed four of my first five kicks to start my career at UCLA," Medlock said in mentally trying to shrug off the 30-yard field goal he sliced to keep the Chiefs scoreless after a sharp 76-yard, 15-playing opening drive in their eventual 20-3 loss Sunday at Houston. Now, how this can be construed as a good thing is up to Medlock to rationalize. But just for the record, Medlock survived his undistinguished beginning at UCLA to convert 70 of 88 career field goals with a Bruin record of six 50-yarders. Whether Medlock gets the chance for redemption in Kansas City remains to be seen. After watching Medlock make only three of six preseason field goals, the Chiefs auditioned six kickers at Arrowhead last week. Among them was 42-year-old league veteran John Carney. Will Kansas City pull the trigger on a draft pick after one preseason and one regular-season game? That was a question coach Herm Edwards wasn't touching on a day when his team scored only three points, those on a 27-yard Medlock kick in the third quarter. "He's our kicker, and he's missed one and made one. That's where it's at," Edwards said in a non-answer answer. "He looked to me like he was aiming it, not kicking it." Medlock admitted to having a bad case of the jitters when he trotted onto the field for his first real-time NFL kick. "I think I rushed it a bit," he said. "The adrenaline was pretty high, I guess. I definitely let (the team) down. "But, I've bounced back from this before," he added. "You've got to just keep believing in yourself, knowing you can do this. Maybe now I can start a run of 10, 20 in a row." Maybe even with the Chiefs. But Medlock wasn't the only special teamer who wasn't so special against the Texans. Deep snapper Jean-Philippe Darche had a high snap that punter Dustin Colquitt had to salvage with a leaping save before getting off a hurried 42-yard snap. And new returner Eddie Drummond fumbled a punt return at his own 29 to set up a second-quarter Houston field goal. He averaged only 6.3 yards on his three punt returns, but was better of kickoff returns with a 26.3 average on three tries. I guess Walmart is hiring........

| I sat and wondered last night when this topic would come up.....I think it's a little funny that they blame a blown game on a kicker. So where was the rest of the offense when they were on the field? Taking a nap? Holy cow! How many unanswered points does a team have to be allowed before they get laughed off the field. I'm just glad they weren't playing at home. The stadium would have been empty long before the 4th quarter began. We in KC are fair weather fans. This team blows! They're not fun to watch - they really are bunch of old guys - our incapable GM offers huge bucks to untrained and unknown talent and lets seasoned professionals walk. It's gonna be a short season - won't have to worry about post-season!
