Maybe it should be a little easier. Perhaps one less loss would soften the sting of a season that appears to be on the skids???

We can talk about this all day long. The bottom line is K.U. is about to be tested. They play at Texas A&M, Nebraska, @ OK State and Missouri. IF they run the table (The odds are definitely against them doing that) I HOPE someone will give them some respect. I'm a big 12 North Fan. I like K.U. AND K-State and like to see both programs do well. Right now they have won some of the games that they have not won in the past and are moving forward. Hell, when was the last time there was a thread about KU FOOTBALL? The fact that we are even discussing it with passion as some are is a big step for the program. I say let them have their moment in the sun at least until the sun sets for them....AND...EVEN if they don't win another game all year THEY STILL BEAT K-STATE AT Manhatten. You can't take that away from them...lol.

That isn't the origin of it, the way I heard it....it doesn't mean a thing. It is just some words they put together that sounded good with the sound of the train they were riding on.

Quote:
As they traveled, they talked of the need for a good, rousing yell. The click-clack of the train wheels passing over the rail joints suggested a rhythm and a cadence to them. At first, their version was "Rah, Rah, Jayhawk, KU" repeated three times. Later, in place of the rahs, an English professor suggested "Rock Chalk," a transposition of chalk rock, the name for the limestone outcropping found on Mount Oread, site of the Lawrence campus.

Oh contraire! It does mean something. It means that KU's opponent is getting his arse kicked. Heard in Allen fieldhouse on a weekly basis and now becoming quite popular in Memorial Stadium. And if memory serves me correctly, I heard strains of it wafting from the confines of Bill Snyder Family Stadium a few weeks ago!! SWEET!!!! Rock Chalk Baby.......

The only thing it means is that the words sounded good with the noise of the train...

and the national anthem sounded good with the noise of bombs.....
the train gave a rhythm and it inspired them.

Sounds like you are still bitter about a game that happened 3 weeks ago.

To quote you from page two, "That was then, this is now".

Now it signifies another KU opponent taking an arse whipping. Of which your precious Wildcats have two more coming this school year in baskeball. Like it or not Mr. Bubba, that's the cold hard facts.

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK! A bit of knowledge for the pouting wildcat: The University of Kansas was built upon Mount Oread, which is composed of limestone, or chalk rock.

I have heard both origins told, which is correct I don't know, I do know that none of us were alive then however, so its kind of dumb to argue about it. Now, as has been said, it means that KU is stomping the stuffing out of ANOTHER opponent.

I heard:

You go to KSU to learn how to grow grass.
You go to KU to learn how to smoke it.
You go to Washburn simply to learn.

Anyway...........could be worse......you could lose to a team called the Beavers. NOW THAT is embarrassing.
