| Okay...... As the father of a daughter who played sports, I have to put my two cents in here. Why is it you (and you know who I am refering too) have to belittle and degrade things that you obviously have no comprehension about? Of course mens sports bring in more money.....so what. That does not mean that female athletes are deserving of any less respect for their talent and dedication. Ever think that maybe women use sports scholarships so they can go to college to get an education? You remember what that is right? Kind of what college is for in the first place? When is the last time you heard of a major college being sanctioned because it's FEMALE athletes committed crimes, failed test scores, were paid to play........... Kind of like dogging Monster for his darts. Any of you ever played professionally or do you just throw the pointy thing at the big round thing between drinks of beer? Bet you couldn't hit the ground if you aimed at it. Maybe it is not the most important "sports" event, but it is an event none the less. I would much rather read about some locals winning ANY tournement than about bird watching in Meade County. Or seeing some local business guy giving a check for some charity.

Tennessee Reports UConn for Recruiting Violation: Taking Maya Moore on ESPN Tour - FanHouse - AOL Sports Blog #2 there isn't the amount of money and competition involved as in mens hoops. Womens college hoops has had the same two teams win most of the championships over the last few years. I'm not saying they don't deserve your respect but as for me I don't like womens basketball...why is that so bad?

I didn't dog Monster...in fact I told him good job on his accomplishments. I was just trying to defend the Globe a bit. They have one or two sports writers and very limited space. They print everything from sports stories on national interest (Royals/Chiefs) to local schools..and not just Dodge. (surrounding high schools) All I was saying that when they make a list of all the sports stories they could do...(and I'm sure a lot of them get left out) that mens darts is probably pretty low on the pole. That's not MY opinion that's just a fact. Most people would rather read about KU or Beasley turning or not turning pro than someone doing well in darts. That's just the way it is. That doesn't take away from his achievement. There are probably people that bowl a 300 once in awhile or shoot a hole in one but that doesn't get printed. There are a lot of high school sports achievements from our local kids that goes unreported or undereported also for lack of space. In an ideal world we would have a great big sports section and include everything from the National Championship down to who won the local turtle race's but in reality that's not happening. In case you overlooked what I said before..>GOOD JOB MONSTER... ![]()

| I didn't say YOU dogged him now did I? I said he was dogged, which he was. I also did not say what he did belongs in the SPORTS section, merely in the paper. That they, the paper, told him it was not important, in my opinion, then does not warrant any backing of their side. Now, I will say I have not read every post in this thread so maybe I jumped the gun. If so, then my appologies. I merely voiced my opinion because the way your last posts on this subject, womens basketball, read as disrespectful to womens sports. I did not read were they, women, were compared to mens sports or on the same level as mens sports, all i read was somebody congradulating the lady cats on a good year. And, no, I do not watch it either because, yes, it is not as intense as mens basketball. There is nothing wrong with you not liking it, and I would not belittle you or say you are wrong for not liking it. I was not trying to imply that and if I did, my bad. Again, it just hit a sore spot with me because I remember my daughter and all the crap she, and I, went through when she played sports and how other parents and students would degrade her.

| Back to Men's Basketball, I read in TIME magazine today, that out of the 4 number 1 seeded teams in the NCAA tourney, only 1 (ONE) has a greater than 50% graduation rate for their players! Kansas, UCLA, and Memphis all graduate 46% or less of their basketball players. North Carolina has a graduation rate of 86%!

| Don't know, but does it really matter, I would guess that UNC has as many that go to the NBA as KU...
