| Fising in Western Kansas You dont need water to go fishing. Just to CATCH fish. So all of you hurry down to the Arkansas River there at the Park in Dodge City and fish all you want. hah..I do remember when my grandfather and I would get minnows down there and ppl fished there all the time. Probably about 1970 was the last time I went down there with him. He would sell minnows etc. over on Ave. D. if any of you remember him. I am not sure where they are talking about for hunting either as most land now leased or do not allow hunting in western kansas. The walk in hunting can only take so much pressure and then they are shot out too. Sad state of affairs. I believe all CRP needs to be open for hunting as WE are paying for non production as it is. This ought to strike a nerve. kk |

| While I have been gone from DC for three years now, during the time I was there not one farmer that I asked permission from to hunt the property (birds only) or fish their ponds ever told me no. My preference for fishing however was to work out some three/four day weekends and head to CO or SW MO for trout streams.

| Well, when I lived on a farm (in a damned trailer house, no less) with hubby #1, there was an opening day I had to duck for cover. Some stupid a$$ hunter from out of town was on the land (we lived on land that was owned by ex-hubby's boss) without permission shooting at birds around the sprinkler irrigation system. Idiots. Ex-hubby and boss were livid! The worst of it was that buckshot was hitting the trailer like hail. So, from then on, the land was posted no hunting. But I believe he gave permission to other neighbors to hunt his land after opening weekend (ex-hubby and family had options on the opening weekend)....just not where the trailer sat. After that weekend, I made annual trips to visit my mother and took the kids with me on opening weekend! Long story short, I think land owners are getting tired of allowing hunters to go on their land only to find out they've destroyed a fence or a gate or left a gate open. Or done something else stupid. They keep the land closed so they, their family and a few friends can hunt it.

Hey Craigb, the "lakes" South of town are great for "Water Skiing", plus I caught a State Record "Turd" Fish. Corn seems to be the best "recycleable" bait. |
