Local Wrestler at National Tournament
just noticed over on a kansas wrestling board that Jesse Barber is participating in the National High School Coaches Association Senior Nationals in Virgina. In order to participate, a wrestler must have finished as a state champ or runner up during their HS career.

Barber is currently 2 and 1. He won his first two matches (16-3 & 4-1) and lost in the quarterfinals to a 3x state champ from North Dakota (0-3). Hopefully he can win 3 more matches and come back to dodge as an all-american. BTW his bracket has over 50 wrestlers in it.

That is one TOUGH tournament, Hugz. I have been there, and you are looking at the cream of the crop. Good luck to Jesse!

On another wrestling note, the Kansas Kids State Championships are being wrestled off in Topeka this weekend. DC has several kids that qualified. Jesse Trent from DCHS will be competing also. Good luck Wranglers!

Barber ended the national tournament with a 2-2 record. Congrats to him on a strong showing. I could of only wished that i had his talent when i wrestled

I do see that J. Trent is wrestling for a State Championship in the 14U 205 lb weight class.
