Alex Rodriguez might be laughing in this photo, but I swear this isn't an April Fool's joke. The Associated Press just did a study of baseball's contracts and found that the Yankees third baseman makes more than the entire roster of the Florida Marlins combined.

Not by a little, either.

At $28 million a year, A-Rod makes much more than the 33-member Marlins opening day squad (a total that includes its disabled list), which will take home a relatively shallow pool of $21.8 million in 2008...

We place too much value in things that really don't have that much value, in my opinion. Owners and players both make more money than they should. I mean, IT'S A GAME! That is why nose-bleed seats cost so much and "good" seats require a small fortune. A cup of beer is $10, a corndog is $5, etc.

And yet our Fireman, Police, EMT's, teachers, etc. make squat. In the grand scheme of things, which is more important?? He's a damn baseball player for god's sake......our priorities are really screwed up.

It's market driven. 1st of all A-rod will make that much and more for the Yankees. If no one paid 8 bucks for a beer and 5 dollars for a dawg they would lower their prices...but the stadium is sold out virtually every game. It's about the market, drawing people and making money...along with competition.

It is sad that we don't put such a premium on firefighters, military and even teachers but it's comparing apples to oranges.

I'm in Florida for a PhotoShop conference and when I was checking in to the hotel another guest heard me say I was from Kansas. He instantly asked if "They" were going to go all the way.

I said, "I really don't know what you're talking about."

He replied, "KU!"

I said, "I could care less about that but that would require effort to think about it. Baisically, I don't give 2 shits."

He was in the middle of his tirade about how important sports were as I kept walking away.

Some people take things way too seriously.

And yet, you all are willing to pay $4 for a gallon of gas, while the "oil companies" are only making in excess of 100 billion in profits???
