looking for hiking buddy

Yes, I know there's nowhere right around here to go hiking... I would like to find a hiking buddy to occasionally go on a trip with. I have my own gear, although I am a complete novice. I have a pack for my dog so that she can carry some of the load, and I do really intend to take her along so we need to find dog-friendly trails. Anyone interested??

With the price of gas, you could be on to something. In my day, I might have gone with you. Now, I have a hard enough time just hiking to the mailbox. Those "middle of the night" pee trips, can also be exciting---

Walk over to my house, and if you still have some energy we can hoof it around the block.

Actually we do have a rather lengthy (unpaved) hike and bike trail started in Hays. And it is safe... even after dark!!!

My husband and I just moved back to Dodge FROM Hays... I liked to go down to Frontier park, behind the buffalo, and walk along the dike with my dog. Sometimes I'd take her around behind the hospital on their track. Went to the "bark in the park" the HRC did last September.
