    K-State Football

I purchased a powercat passport and just finished watching the game online from Saturday. After watching the game, I can honestly say that I am impressed with the new recruits this year. Keithen Valentine a junior college transfer played a good game and carried the ball 13 times for 67 yards and 1 TD. The true freshman from Garden Plain, Logan Dold did a great job also, he carried the ball 9 times for 53 yards and had 1 reception for 8 yards.

Aubrey Quarles another Juco transfer played a good game he had 6 receptions for 57 yards. Brandon Banks, also a Juco transfer did very well and had 3 receptions for 88 yards with 2 TD's. Lamark Brown looks like he might step up to the challenge since Jordy has departed. He had 3 receptions all year last year, this game he had 4 receptions for 45 yards with 1 TD. The offense finished the game with 78 plays for 471 yards, 165 rushing and 306 passing. Averaging over 6 yards per play. They didn't even punt the ball until Freeman sat out!

The Wildcats didn't even commit a penalty until there was less than 5 minutes left in the first half. Penalties really hurt them last year and it looks like there might be a big improvement in that area over last year.

Josh Freeman only played 2 1/2 quarters then Carson Coffman took over. On the defensive side it looked like Ian Campbell only played about 2 1/2 quarters as well. Ian also recorded his first sack of the season in this game and caused a couple of hurries for the Mean Green quarterback. The defense held North Texas to 55 plays for 205 yards, 105 rushing and 100 yards passing. That is 3.73 yards per play!

I think that the Wildcats have a good season in front of them if they can continue to improve their play and work on a few minor mistakes that were committed.

Okay, first off, Passport is a joke, especially after football season is over. I just canceled mine after three years of hoping they would improve it. But other than that, I agree with you. I think the thing to watch this year is to see if the defense can hold up. I was impressed with the backfield, but the Cats need a better pass rush going into the next few games.

I just bought it to watch the football games that aren't aired on TV.

Dude..I hope K State does well but you are all excited because they put up some offensive numbers and had some good "D" vs a team they they OBVIOUSLY outmatch. I KNOW you said North Texas is tough but they couldn't compete in the Big 12. Talk about K-State after Oklahoma skull drags them at Manhattan...or after they get ran the f**k over playing at KU and at Mizzour back to back. They will be lucky to win 4 games in the big 12...personally I only see a couple but I'm going to be an optimist and go with 4. K State LOST to NEBRASK and IOWA STATE last year but maybe can pull out two wins there. Long season for Cat fans....

What's wrong with KSU fans being optimistic? Are we just supposed to fold over and die because we had a bad season last year? Our big negative last year was defense, it was non-existent. So when the KSU D shuts down a pretty good offense, it is reason for optimism. I don't see anyone saying we are going to win the big 12 or win the national championship. I think a realistic goal for this year is win the games we're supposed to and maybe steal another game or two. I'd consider 6-6 or 7-5 and a bowl a good season, as we have a very sophomore and junior laden team. We just need to make improvement and build towards the '09 season.

Nothing, I am optimistic about CHiefs but realistic at the same time. 4 wins max for them. I'm optimistic that we will have a great draft pick next year...

What 7 wins do you see for KSU this year?

After watching Louisville this past weekend, I think KSU can beat them. That along with 3 creampuffs equals 4 non-con wins. KSU plays at A&M, but Arkansas St. just won at Kyle Field. I think we can win that one. Iowa State at home will be a win. That is 6 right there. Colorado, Tech, Nebraska, and KU we will probably be underdogs, but I think we might be able to steal one of those. I think we can compete with Mizzou, but their offense is just too much, so that will be a loss. So do you think OU will "skull drag" us like they were supposed to back in the 2003 Big 12 championship game? That was supposed to be one of the best teams in college football history, and KSU beat the crap out of them. Do I think we can beat OU this year? Probably not, but I'd like to think we can keep it competitive.

    1. North Texas (done)
    2. Montana State
    3. Louisiana-Lafayette
    4. Texas Tech
    5. Colorado
    6. Nebraska
    7. Iowa State

I also see a chance of winning the A&M game after hearing they lost to Arkansas State at home. Last year they lost to Nebraska and Iowa State when they were having issues with the defense. I think they will go into those games with something to prove and walk away with wins. Especially when both Nebraska and Iowa State are home games for the Cats.

I think the Colorado and Nebraska game will go the other way but time will tell.
