I had to do some research:

Quote:
How big is a bushel?
A bushel began as a measure of volume, but the accepted standard for a bushel of corn is now measured in weight: 56 pounds. That's for shelled corn (after the husks and cobs are removed).
nice stove btw!

Thanks Hoarsewhisper....I have always rounded it up to 60 lbs but close enough! I might need to change that then. The actual use is a little over a 5 gallon bucket per day when running on high speed, but when used on setting 1-2 it doesn't hardly use any. We didn't have to run our house furnace at all this past winter, we kept the stove in the basement and it heated the house really well!

Yeha most folks would much rather drink corn than burn it! It's anice stove tho - I never have a need for stuff like that - have to crank the AC up to burn the fireplace I got!!

I love the stove.... I have wanted one but my hubby says that we don't have room for it. I think anything that would help NOT pay more $$ to the gas company would be a good thing.

If I had room for it, it would be sold.... it is a great looking stove!!

Just a thought--what will happen to the price of corn when the ethanol plants are here?

You don't have to wait. The price of corn is already at an all time high. Thus in turn drives meat prices up. Farmers planting more corn to cash in, thus will be depleting the water supply even more. And since it takes more energy to produce the ethanol than is gained in return, it is a bad investment (except for the government subsidies presently available)!

The best way to stop the popularity of ethanol plants is to stop buying gasoline with ethanol in it. You will get better gas mileage when you do and your car will like you better. Your mechanic might not, though, since he won't be seeing you as much after you stop using ethanol.
