| UPDATE: Treasure found? Well it looks as though this treasure has been found. I have not been able to personally confirm it, but it does sound very possible.
I was contacted a few weeks ago and told this person had some information about the Martinez Silver I should read. He brought over an email he had received from a reliable source that said the Martinez Silver was found in the late 50's or early 60's by accident, and the guy that found it was a friend.
He was quoted to say "It was an amazing sight to see" as he describe the pile of silver coins. The guy who found it has passed away, and with him it looks like most of the information. When he was 80 a he was reluctant to give any details about his find other than to say he was pretty sure it was the Martinez Silver.
I would have loved to talk with him just to try and get a location. Imagine being able to locate the actual site where this 5 day battle and final massacre took place. Did he plow up the coins by accident? If so, I would imagine at least a few got scattered. Were any kept? It would be great to have a few in the Boot Hill Museum.
In any case, we are going to try and meet with the guys friend who say he saw it and find out what information we can.
I am quite happy that all these years I was convinced this one was real, and it looks as though I was right. Oh well, on to the next one.
