| Bubba, and AoO, you are pups when it comes to old, fat, bald men. That is my terra ferma, don't step on it. (that's B.S.) as you can tell. I'm ready for organized an club, dealer, hunts here in DC. What history and locations we have in this area. 1/2 dimes and gold are out there to be found. I have been hunting for a large penny all of my hunting years. I have an extra White's DFX that I will share to anyone interested at anytime. I will teach how to, where to, when to, ( better weather) though. Leave me a PM and I'll get back to you. |

| Please count me in on a public hunt. I have been looking for years to find someone to help me out with detecting. I bought a top of the line detector about 4 years ago and wish I would have bought the lower end one. This one has to many bells & whistels for me to keep up with. I finally got discouraged and gave it up. If I could find somone to give me some pointers that would be great. |

| Great booger. I found my one and only large cent(1855) on 8th street believe it or not. Not exactly the oldest part of town but you just never know. My goal is a flying eagle cent. I know where to find it I just got to find that spot. Poor Boy we would be happy to show you how that detector works. The high-end detectors can be intimidating but they don't need to be. My DFX has a slew of adjustments but I'll bet any first timer can use it easily with just a bit of direction. You should always buy the best detector you can afford. Too many people make the mistake of buying a cheap detector just to see if they like it and give up because they can't find anything. There are some tricks of the trade that can take years to learn but they can also be taught in a very short time. In fact I'd take the bet I can spend an hour one on one with anybody and have them finding coins within that hour.

| It was once said about Detector - "If there was only one good find in a wide open field, Detector would walk right to it" - John I bought a Garrett ACE250 off ebay for 160bucks with shipping. I took it out with D one afternoon to get a feel for it. We compared signals and such on targets, and within 10 minutes at the sand pit I managed to find 5 coins. 3 Pennies (no wheaties), a Nickel and a French Coin (wasn't very old maybe 20 years, no date I could decipher) Walmart does not carry Metal Detectors on a regular basis. If your going to buy Radio Shack, buy the Discovery 3300. The 3300 and the ACE250 are the best of the cheap models. They say to use the formula of $100 per inch. Want to find stuff 8" then you need to spend 800 bucks. I don't totally agree with that because I was finding things 6 - 8 " with my ACE 250. |

| The Garrett ACE 250 is an awesome detector at an unbeatable price. The Bounty Hunter 3300 when on sale and rebates has been known to sell for $89 which is great for the price. If you're going to spend $150-$300 differently go with the ACE 250.
