Yep - I've said a few quiet words over some fallen brain cells myself. Now (in my old age....) I prefer to stay relatively sober and have a good time laughin' at the drunks! I especially had a great laugh when some of the drunkest people at the bar I went to last weekend got pulled over not very far from the bar. I had to honk and wave on my way past.

At one time, that was the "Coast to Coast" store! Probably before your time BroncoFan. Probably back in the early 70's?

Red face

Before it was Coast To Coast it was Woolsworth. It was the "big" store downtown.
I bought my mother a canary there about 1961 or so.
Long long time ago........

I used to work at that Woolworth. In the basement there was an entrance to the underground tunnels that led all over downtown dodge.

Wonder what the tunnels were for and how caved in they are now? Houston's tunnel system is quite profitable and I believe San Franciso has some underground mall when I lived there in the 70's................ I just love the old part of town............ any town............

Yeah, it was way before my "drinking years." I would have been about 1!

I do feel that I am getting somewhat of a history lesson on Dodge City, though! Love hearing the "Old Timers" tell their "yarns" of yore!

Really, This is all very interesting.

So does anyone know what the tunnels were used for in Dodge? Is it one of those prohibition stories?? Lots of tunnels were I guess used to run booze from place to place - with a main unloading store and connections to the rest of the customers?
