| Don't you all remember the person that found it last year? Bragging about not turning it in, so they could watch everyone else searching for it! Bunch of idiots! Put a "homing device"on it, and if not turned in within 24 hours, the prize is "null and void"! ![]() ![]() |

| A few years ago it was found early and not turned in for days. If I remember correctly, O'Neil hides it, he is the only one who knows where it is and does not check to see if it is there daily. While that may help keep it a secret, it definately sucks when people are out in the heat looking for the damn thing and it is not there. Thats why i don't even look for it anymore. Was right on top of the damn thing twice but I took it literally when it says it is in plain site. I did not realize plain site was inside a plastic bag, or under a plastic tarp.

| It was my understanding that the 'treasure' was checked daily... until the year that it disappeared from a parking lot south of the old High School during a cleanup.... that treasure wasn't discovered/announced as being missing until well into the hunt..... FWIW, I'd rather look for four-leaf clovers and short people who wear green...

| There was an article in the Globe on the first day of the hunt by the editor O'Neil i believe, in it he stated the reasons why he does what he does and he stated he does not check it daily because it would tempt someone to follow him.

| He should send a random someone to go check it at a random time of each day. At least everyone would have the peace of mind of knowing that they are searching for something that is actually there. How hard would that be? No one would know who was going to look, and honestly, if some psycho stalks every member of the Globe, they deserve the d*** money!

Besides, even if we did send an employee to check on the medallion each day, someone could find it between the time the checker left the scene and the time he or she got back to the office, which would undermine the assertion that the medallion is still out there. (I know it sounds like a long shot, but it's possible.) Once the medallion has been turned in, we will relay that information to people calling in to ask if it has been found. I would imagine we would also post the info online. |
