Strawberry Festival

I just wanted to make sure everyone here is aware of the Strawberry Festival this weekend in downtown Dodge City. It is fun for the kids.

It is hard to remember we have a downtown in this city. But there are a few new shops down there (not all mexican) and if we ever want to see a few locals open new businesses in this area (or any other part of town) we need to get out and support those who have tried.

Activities start at 10 am and go to 1:30pm. (stole this from the flyer)
There will be: Car Show, Flea Market, Sidewalk Sales, Pet Parade, Dunk Tank, Sidewalk Chalk Drawing, Duck Pond, Face Paintings, Pinatas, Sand Dig, and much more for the kids to do.

Food Court: Funnel Cakes, Shaved Ice, Choc Covered Strawberries, Mexican Food, Pizza, Bierocks, Hotdogs.

Then at 1:30 they will be serving free strawberry ice cream at Eisenhower park. (you know that area where they tore down a building and put up a few benches).

I love that festival............. gee I sure miss a few things bout dodge..... hmmmmmm Enjoy the festival and have a strawberry and funnel cake for me. Let me know what bargians I missed at the craft booths!!

me, neither. I noticed Dodgegal doesn't have many posts. If we call her out on her one of her first ones, she's likely to not come back. I'm thinkin' she meant that not all new shops are owned by hispanics and didn't mean it to be derogatory. It's Friday, Drifter - go have a cold one.

In normal use Hispanic, Latino, Chicano, etc. refer to an ethnic group. Mexican to me refers to citizens of Mexico, not all of which are Hispanic. As Dodgegal used it in her post, I interpret it to mean stores run by Mexican citizens as opposed to stores run by American citizens.

The word “racist” has been over abused and run into the ground to where it has little merit in discussion.

I still don't see the need for the "not all mexican" part. Doesnt enhance the message. Oh well, looks like its me against the world AGAIN. forget it...it's friday. Drifter out.

Not to open, or reopen a can of worms, but, how is being a citizen of mexico, or any other country, make someone illegal here? If you have your green card, or proper Visa's, you will stay a citizen of Mexico, or you're home cournty, and can live, and work, here. Also, some people, having gained Naturalized Citizenchip of the US, can remain a citizen of their home country.

Hey, Drifter.....musta had a bad, bad week. Not the world against you - just a difference of opinion. You had a difference of opinion with Dodgegal and you spoke out. Some of us had a difference of opinion with that and spoke out. That's what makes us so damned loveable! Kinda like brothers and sisters, argue one minute and have fun the next!
