| This is really quite sad, as she just received these earrings from her husband of 40+ years. He had never bought her jewelry before, so these were very sentimental to her. She just lost the back to one of them and put them in a small bag in her purse to prevent losing them, then they got lost. Still hope something turns up, and I know this board has a plethera of readers!

| I have been metal detecting since the early 70's. I have hunted for many of persons who say they lost jewelry, keys, etc., with not much luck. I have found that people (think) they have lost it near when they discover it missing. I wish them a speedy recovery. |

| I find the best way to motivate people to look for lost items is to post a reward. If the item was sentimental, then a $25-$100 reward would be a small fee to get them back. If you don't offer a reward, some people may just keep the items as a search-fee. Not saying I would...I would give them back and refuse the reward, but it's always nice to be offered one.

| A day in Dodge with no wind??? What a miracle!.... I sure wish you luck - that's a crummy story - next time hope she gets the better screw backs - Diamonds are funny things - ya gotta check the mountings - bigger the stone - the more often ya check - and ya always need those screw backs for the studs........ (no broke back jokes here please from our resident studs)....... wish her the best - I suggests a lot of whinnin and she needs to beg for another pair..........

| Just a thought.....if the original earrings aren't recovered, she needs to turn the loss in to her insurance company. If she has any kind of record of the size or price, that ought to work. Even better if she had them scheduled on a jewelry floater. Good luck to her!
