I saw this on a commercial the other day.

Dodge City Rodeo Grounds (New Location)
June 21-24
Games - Food - Rides

I haven't lived here long enough to even know where the rodeo grounds are! Would someone please let me know? Also, is this carnival worth it? (I've been to a few that weren't so great) Thanks!

Sure if you want to take your kids to go on rides run by dirty, nasty crackheads...go ahead...lol.

Ottoway runs pretty clean rides, and I would say they are the best of the "carnival" type. I believe they are a local outfit, but they do travel all over. The ones that you are thinking about Army, are the ones from Texas that usually come and set up at the mall like once a year.

I know a couple of kids that work for that carnival. If you heard some of the stories they tell you would never let your kids ride their or be around some of those people...

Yeah and if you heard some of the stories I've heard, you would never let your kids out of the house! That's life these days. We have to live with it everywhere.

It's not about being overprotective of the kids...but why would you take your children somewhere that you know there is drug abuse going on and put your children on rides that are run by people with drugs in their system...all for a few thrills....Um...no thanks. Most of those people (i'm generalizing here) that work there have felonies and use drugs...NOT the crowd I would want my child around....but that's just me. You are free to have at it!

The same issues were goin on when our parents took us to the carnival.............. ya think the workers in the 40's and 50's and 60's were any different than the ones there today? You are dreamin!

Ya just worry too much - hell they aren't raisin your kids they are pushin a button to turn an engine. Your kids are exposed to more druggies and dealers at your local grocery store than there................. good lord! They don't control the length or speed of the ride anymore - the safety standards are much tougher than they used to be. They have to have permits, insurance, etc - just like any other business that chooses to do business in your town. Go get on a fast ride and have fun!
