That is so sad to hear the parade has gone downhill so much - just plain sad! Ya can't throw candy in our parades and there is always folks walkin the route just handing candy out. Guess we ran over one too many "loose" kids at some point. I would urge you folks that were bummed out to call and tell them. I also would urge whoever saw them water gunning the residents to report it to the company that was doin the advertising. My guess is most those folks had on sun screen and it can be very frightening for elders to get blasted without prior warning. Some things are not funny at all.

OH MY GOD!!! I think that was so uncalled for. Sexual predators are everywhere.. they can read adds in the paper too. They can already be working at schools, Walmart, and Daycares. I have so much I want to say but am choosing to just stop it here.

The parade doesn't start at the park and end at the civic center? When did that change? They used to always do that! Throwing candy from the floats has been banned up here too. Too many people were hit with hard candy and a couple of times tots ran out to get it without thinking about oncoming floats. Too dangerous cuz it's just so hard to keep the little ones corraled. An organization I belong to had a float in Old Shawnee Days up here one year - - we dressed up as clowns (can you just imagine?) and handed out coupons and candy. But not all the parents allow their children to take the candy anymore.

It starts at the Civic Center, then runs to comanche, turns to second, comes down second, turns on the road right before the bull, kicks over to first, across wyatt earp, down to trail, around the corner onto second again, then down to the road that leads to the Rodeo Grounds, and ends there.


Though when I was a kid, it went from the road before the bull, over to 3rd, across wyatt earp infront of boothill, turned at the stoplight onto trail, then snaked back around behind LOPPS, and headed down second, over to where the old CPlus was, then turned down to the rodeo grounds.

Walked that many a time with the DCPL float.
