now wouldnt the change in how beverages being furnished change the whole aspect and argument of this thread? I mean Discussion? If the promotion of beer was thru the band being sold in a controlled enviroment by a liscensed distributor was now being tossed out on the basis of them not being able to provide for the event and changing it to a BYOB makes it basically a house party being thrown on the street of a small town?

Im all for the consumption of beer in moderation. Now. It took awhile for me to get to that point but still when the option of a liscense seller is taken away and the option of BYOB comes up most party goers dont know a thing about moderation and that is scary with the unlimited supply they can bring themselves to the concert and alot will be coming from dodge to minneola is real scary for the drive back and fro the non drinkers taken that 15min drive north with the possibly drunk drivers. Not good!

Most small towns do their street concerts like this. I have been to several as a spectator. The concert is put on for their entertainment but no refreshments are available. This is not uncommon at all. People bring coolers and food. It worked great for the Paige Estes Benefit in Bucklin, as it does apparently every year. The street is shut down and an area is completely fenced off. Law Enforcement is present, and lets everyone know to take their coolers to and from their vehicles unopened. No one is permitted to leave the fenced area with an open container. This is not some giant drunkfest where everyone ses how much they can drink then drives home to their far away towns. Again, it all comes down to your individual responsibilities as adults. We could come up with hundreds of scenarios. How about all the NASCAR fans who travel from all over to see the races. I have never been, but I am guessing a lot of them drink while they are there and have to travel home. This whole thread is ridiculous. Octoberfest, races, concerts, street dances, and everywhere else that provides entertainment and advertises refreshments available, or bring your own, etc...Almost everything you go to for entertainment provides the public with an opportunity to purchase refreshments! !No different... Hope to see everyone out on Saturday for a fun night for all the surrounding communities. Lets all be responsible and have a great time! Thanks!

Vin

Wow glad you brought up that benefit dance in Bucklin. Wasn't that benefit dance for someone who was killed by a DRUNK DRIVER??? Ok and I hear that alcohol was sold AND people were so drunk that they could not even walk, they got in their cars and drove...Now did you see what I said before...benefit for someone who was KILLED by a drunk driver. Now to top all of that off Lee Hood and his brother in law were the bartenders. The brother in law I hear drives drunk continuously and gets off due to being Lee Hoods brother in law. Now wasn't it their neice or something that was killed???

I don't know if it was the same benefit but theres a benefit street dance that goes on in Bucklin and that is what it is for.

I guess I must have been at a different benefit that night. I dont remember seeing any of that. Had a wonderful turnout though. Everyone had a very good time and a lot of money was raised for a good cause. Like I said before, this thread has gone past the point of ridiculous...I'm done with it. Hope to see ya all in Minneola Saturday! Thanks again for your support!

You know Vin what all you say is fine and dandy; however tell all the past bar owners that had to shut down due to the DCPD pulling EVERYONE over leaving their establishments for suspision on DUI. You come on here, advertise drinking at a street dance and say nothing is wrong with that...So be it nothing is. What is wrong is your being a damn hipicrite and I would like to tell you about it face to face what I think about you anyways.

What you do not know is one of those establishments was my mother and step fathers kick ass night club that was doing very well way back when. everyone in DC went there, and not everyone that went there would drink and drive or drive drunk. Well needless to say the DCPD started pulling every Tom, Dick and Harry over leaving the club and got off on it, so business went down. In fact the DCPD was having bets over who could get the most DUI's. Than the Longhorn opened and the rest was history. The Longhorn was in town so people didnt have to drive as far. My mother and stepfather worked very hard at that place and with the help of the DCPD they got screwed.

I know other past bar owners in DC that say the DCPD screwed them as well. People quit coming out because they would get pulled over. Just put it this way you took alot of business from people who worked very hard to make a living, and now your sitting here on this damn talk board advertising shit like you are.

Screw you.

DUI is still a DUI, no matter who conducts the traffic stop. Just because your parents owned a bar, dosn't make the drunk drivers drive any better. the idea of seeking out and arresting DUI drivers is to make the streets safe for everyone, including you, your family, and your friends.
It was not up to the owners of the bar to make sure the drivers were sober. they only had to do one thing. find a DD.

BTW: there is no law or ordinance saying that officers can't sit outside a bar and watch as people leave. that can add to reasonable suspicion. if a subject stumbles out of a bar, and has trouble finding the keys, drops them a couple of times, it dosn't mean they are drunk. they could just be sleepy from being up to late. does that make it safe for them to be driving? NO....but it could also mean that a reasonable person would beleive that the same subject could be driving or attempting to drive while under the influence.

I have to agree with NLIRG. Vinnie has not promoted any consumption of alcohol. he has however, advertised that his band will be providing the entertainment for the street dance, and during the advertising, stated to the community what would be at the dance.

sorry if you disagree
have a nice day

You're not getting my point what I am trying to say. Read my posts!!! My whole problem started out was a LEO advertising a beer garden and the reasons it is a problem to me. I believe some things are very hipicritical when it comes to SOME OF DC's finest. What is good for them and their friends, is not good for the rest of the public and never has been. I am not saying that everyone going to this street dance is going to be drunk and drive; however I bet at least 1/4 of them will be or more.

Another reason this whole thread was a problem for me was past crap.
Vin and I have decided to call a truce between the two of us. If you all could not tell I have been quite the biotch to him and with no good reason except for some shit from the past. I truly appologize to Vin and hope we can get along now.

I still stand my ground on stuff I have said in this thread and will stand my ground with good reason.

Love ya all!

1st of all....there are MANY MANY people that can go out to a street dance or whatever and drink one or ten drinks, have a good time and not drive. Just because someone goes to a dance and drinks doesn't mean they don't have a DD. THat's what responsible people do. Some people DUI no matter where they go and it has nothing to do with Vin advertising a street party...these are just stupid, wreckless people. It's back to responsibility....some people are stupid and irresponsible no matter where they go....

I just love it when people say your real name on this forum. This is what nic names are for. Not that I care that people know who I am if you read my posts it's easy to figure out.
