Obama's plan is to shut off the border from new illegals. Make the current illegals pay a hefty fine and learn English to stay as legal immigrants (not my idea of a perfect plan, but I can live with it). Require employers to verify on a national database if their employees are legal or not. Not exactly amnesty, and not exactly what I completely want but can live with, if you want to call it amnesty, you have the right to call it what you want.

I am COMPLETELY against illegal immigrants, but then again, we now have WAY too many of them here now to just deport them all! We have to meet somewhere in the middle with them. I believe Obama's plan takes the best possible stance with the entire situation. Read up!

That was pretty much my deciding factor as well. I really don't care if he was in the military or not - he reaches out with solutions - not threats of impending doom. I like that and I too can live with concession - at least perhaps we will get some motion!

All this is well and good but let's not forget that if you want to see any of these things get done we'll need a philibuster proof margin in the Senate too.

So what if we did what Oklahoma is doing and close off the benefits and they self deport? Would that be a better solution?

I personally believe that will be up to the states eventually, but I think we need to "watch and see" what the illegals do when Obama's plans are put into action. They may just say p*ss on the fines and go back home! That would especially be the case if our government works on our diplomacy with Mexico, and they might get motivated to follow suit and fix their own damn country!

Come on...that's from the guys own website. Find something a little more non partisan about the guy. Look at his voting record. He can SAY what he will do but what it doesn't address is HOW he would pay for it.
