Local Movie Premiere "Broken Wind"

What they offer is the "pulse" of the business - the financial backing, the theaters to show in, the millions needed to spark interest and lead to sucess, that's why folks go to Nahville, - it's where the "pulse" is. That doesn't make DC a bad place - far from it - I didn't feel you were saying DC would be the next hollywood - hell even Texas tried to do that - we have a pretty good film industry but it's centered around Austin - again money, interest, like folks, - No insult intended by my post. Actually I wrote that more or less thinkin - what a shame that ya can't find sucess in your own back yard. It's just the way of the business and such. Dancers either go to New York or Vegas, Singers go to Calif or New York - Opera singers don't go to Nashville to be noticed - they dream of Italy...... - that's why I'm glad I'm not artsy..... I get to float from Tx to Ks whenever I feel like it - everybody needs a nurse now and then......... I think having to move to pursue your dream is bad enough - having to move to places like NY and Calif - would kill me. Hence you get the small town productions of stage, theater, and such. I love community theater - so there is a place for everyone and everything. It was just a comment......I'm certainly NO expert............so I can't debate the right and wrong of it all....... it's again just and OPINION.....

Now I can't speak for the group behind the production of this movie. But I can say that I do it for the sheer entertainment value, no visions of grandeur here. Call me greedy but I am in it to entertain myself. And why not share the wealth? It was a lot of fun to do and educational to see how that kind of stuff is put together. Let me just add - truthfully IF I were still there I would be the one with a front row seat - right bout now I'd be dustin off my sequeined gowns cause there aint' enuf venues to wear somthin like that too. My closet of them didn't get near enuf use - so I'd be jumpin for joy that I get to go out and dress up............ course I'd be dancin on the table at the bar by 2 am........ that's what I love bout DC - glitz and gutter all in the same night!!!! What a town................

SO.......How did the premier go? Good turnout?

Turnout was great and fun was had by all.

I think there were around 300 tickets sold.

Hey Gunnar - that's pretty good for DC - hope they all showed up - but even if they didn't that kinda gives a foundation on which to build for venues in the future..... I'm sure there is plenty of talent around SW Kans to maybe try something like this again..............Congrats!!

My wife and I went to the premiere. It was nice to do something different here in old D.C. for a change. Those folks put a lot of work into their project.

So the question is - IF they had another event like this - would you pay the asked price to go? Did you feel it was worth the $ and do you feel they could charge more or is the price bout right for the entertainment provided?

I'm not there but I'm just curious? How many do you think attended? If there were 300 tickets do ya feel there were 300 there?

I think it's great that DC has the possibility to have something more than the movie theater, the DCCC theater, and Boot hill rep. This is it seems about supporting local talent on thier quest to hopefully a bright career. That could actually spark some interest in other kids to pursue something other than 3.2 beer.
