| Righthand lane I've heard that they are going to add a righthand lane in the driveway from Ross to the school. This should really help the problem because people will then be able to go around the back side of the school instead of waiting in line. |

| The problem isn't so much dropping kids off, it is getting there to begin with. The traffic on 14th and Ross is bottlenecked and at times is like being on a race track with the kids and their lead feet. Then, when leaving, God forbid you have a bus in the lane stopped at the light, they are not allowed to turn right on a red light.

| High School exit It was actually not a USD 443 call. It was a KDOT call. Either of those agencies can provide the details. Some of it's technical. Bottom line: 443 does not have the option. Bubb, as far as the crisis issue is concerned, the high school has a highly developed plan that went like clockwork during the drill and there is abundant safe space to stage people prior to transporting them out. I have seen how a relatively minor accident on Ross chokes traffic down. Still, an ambulance can get through either direction with no problem. |

| Then where was KDOT with their regs when the Walgreen's store was built on 14th to tell the city where they could put an entrance to their property?

All I'm asking for is a straight answer. The school is not on any state or US highway, it is surrounded by city streets. But even if it was on a highway, so what? Like I pointed out before, SW Heights is located right on a US Highway with NO city around or near the school. It's about halfway between Plains and Kismet.

| I'm not trying to be combative or drive you away from the board. Your input is appreciated. I just can't understand how KDOT can regulate this school when other schools are directly on a Highway and our high school is not on the highway. ![]()

| I don't know anything about the facts surrounding our screwl's traffic controllers but I do know that the KDOT influences local control in the form of grants... and other tit programs. I became aware of the problems arising from government handouts as I watched our Old Town get torn down because government thought we should. The old wise ones warned about free money...
