I heard there was an incident in our transportation department involving road rage. A school bus driver was involved in "chasing" someone down to make sure they were stopped. I guess the other driver caused the bus to have to stop fast. Durring the confrontation the bus driver had to get off the bus and leave kids on the bus. It is my understanding this is against the rules to leave children on an unattended bus. The list of things that could have happened to this driver much less the kids is endless. As if this was not bad enough, NOTHING has happened to the driver. He continues to drive daily as if nothing happened. Why is that ok?

If he actually did that - he ought to be fired on the spot. What's goin on in that bus barn????? Too many favors owed or too close to retirement? Don't your bus drivers have cell phones or 2 ways? No need to chase anyone for anyreason I would think......

OH yes.. there are two way radios.. EVERYBODY close to one got to hear the whole thing. How embarassing huh?

WOW! Bus drivers get fired on the spot up here. For almost any infraction. The bus drivers, whether school district employees or private contractor employees, owe a certain amount of responsibility to their charges. What was he THINKIN!!!! If I were a parent there and a child of mine had been on that bus, you can bet I'd be asking questions.

And then if I found out I had some misinformation, I'd be mea-culpa-ing all over the place!!!! (scream - ask questions later kindathing)

Well what I noticed is that this event wasn't something that happened today by Cheese's post. Seems like the Cheese &/or the kids' parents ought to go to the school board meeting and ask the hard questions. Like why the hell is this guy still drivin. I think you can be cited for child endangerment if you abandon the kids safety to chase motorists and play Hawaii 5 - 0 with a school bus full of kids. As I remember most drivers in DC are women anyhow - not THAT many men driving last I knew. Gee wish I still lived there so I could go ask my "source" .... LOL See ya can take a girl outta DC but can't take DC outta the girl......LOL

I don't think the bus drivers here are watched too closely. Once I turned in a bus for going straight in a right turn ony lane and almost hitting me. I called the bus barn with the bus number and discription of what happened, she said the driver would be dealt with. Two days latter I saw the same driver in the same bus get pulled over for the same infraction. So I guess the driver wasn't dealt with too severely.
