Who is the beef?

I have a question that I hope someone can answer for me. Is it legal for a school district to spend my tax money to print and send out brochures for people to vote for raising my taxes? It doesn't sound kosher to me, but that is why I'm putting the question out there.

I know they (443) say the school can be paid for without a tax increase, (not sure I believe that) but how will the added teachers, office help, janitors, utilities, basic upkeep etc. be paid for? My guess: raise taxes.

Great question, I also got one of those bullsh!t brochures in my mailbox, that I immediately threw in the trash. So, not only are they wasting my tax dollars sending them out, think of all the trees it took to make the paper, the salary of the people it took to make them up and get them addressed and postage put on them to put them in the mail, the extra space those things are taking up in our county landfill, etc.

Whats the difference of them spending money on lobbyists or brochures? It's all the same to me. I'm sure if the school dist wants something passed there is money allowed for "education of the voters". Most folks don't go to the meetings and they have to report to the tax payor somehow. You never got a letter giving the "state of the school district"???? Same kinda cow to me.....

Actually, I can't recall recieving any state of the school district report. I got this brochure and I usually get a school calendar once a year and that is about it.

We get stuff from time to time on where the money is going........ we get "announcements" of issues of community interest........... oh well...... still isn't it about the same as payin the Hilton bill, car rental, and meal ticket of the folks they send to Topeka to try to get more Fed / State funds??? I know the dist doesn't run on local taxes alone........ prob not much ya can do about it anyhow unless you are ready to start attending the meetings....... just another insight as to where my taxes are goin..............

Great News, we are getting a new elementary school and the middle school is over crowded, and to add to this wonderful state all you teachers will have one less child in your classroom but you will be giving up all raises for the next five years.

You are right Littlemom the middle school is overcrowded. How much to you wanna bet that in a couple years THAT will be the new issue cause they will HAVE to build a new middle school because there is no more room. Here is another news flash the High School is overcrowded also. They say it has been since the day it opened, and here we are getting ready to get ANOTHER grade school. I just dont get how they think.
