| Monday- A day without school The kids cheered when I told them Monday would be another day the hispanics would not be there. They said the last time they marched there were only a few kids in the class. They said the teacher suspended the normal curriculum and let them goof off. They said the all the teacher did was talk about the march a little bit and then they got to goof off. I don't know how others feel about this...but I would think the unexcused absense would not qualify as a day to stop teaching. The kids who show up for school deserve to be taught, not just goof off. So you see, regardless of what we all think about this not affecting us, it DOES affect our children. Sad, very sad. Personally, I think the teachers should stick with the curriculum, and if others fall behind because they are making a statement, then so be it. It is supposed to be a day without them, why should teaching come to a halt for all? We learned before they were here.

| from this, to the stories of teachers telling the kids how to march and what to say... It sure seems like our local school system is a major player in the pro-march movement. Schools in politics... Sounds like a violation of the seperation of school/state?

| I agree.. the kids that show up should be taught. Maybe they should be taught about the Constitution. Maybe they should be taught why they get to go to school and taught about all the things they could grow up to be. Instead, they will get another goof off day. I bet this wont be the last one either. They have now had 2 of these, and they get their way. Why not plan another one.. one a month at least. The problem with trying to teach the kids that are there today, is that the ones that are not there today, will be catered to as usual, and the other students will be held back, even if it is only another day or two until they catch up. I drove by Wright Park a little bit ago and saw kids skateboarding there already thismorning. Now what is THAT teaching those kids?? I think it is teaching them to disrespect who ever they want to get what they want right now. It really does crack me up to think that THEY think that by "protesting", someone will really listen to them. Id think they would turn a few more heads if they were respectful to America, respectful to their jobs, and to their kids education and wrote letters to the people that make a difference. This sure is going to be a long day. ![]() |

| I'm not disagreeing with you, Bronco-Fan, I heard it a different way. By saying, "no child left behind", I thought he was talking about citizen-children.
