Nicely put! I will say that the area that I grew up in had many migrant workers. The children went to school and were put in an english class and had to keep up. I grew up with many of those childre, and have to say they were not idiots in the school system. They learned the language and learned to learn. Yes, they did not speak english and could not be allowed to hold up a classroom of english only students.
Why, now, would we turn the tables. I, too, agree that speaking multiple languages is extremely beneficial to anyone. I do not agree that the second language should be always be spanish. I would like my child to learn Japanese.
