This may get me some bad reps, but my thought is that possibly USD 443 has "dumbed down" to the average student, which is unfortunately the illegal or the migrant's child. They don't stand a chance when they're moved from school district to school district. Every district is different in their expectations.

Ok I teach at the high school and would like to invite anyone at any time to my room for the day. There are bumbs in the road but anytime you have 1700 teenagers in one location for 7 hours your going to have them. I will agree that not all teenagers at DCHS are angles, but to be honest they are what you make them through your expectations.

Any day, Any time, go to the office have them call ext 2703 and I will come escort you to my room.

I will also say that there has been a lot of truth posted but all is not lost at DCHS.

Hey army still waiting to hear from you about those shirts.

Mac, you obviously are the minority there - too many teachers are so overwhelmed, they just want to get through their day.

Macdaddy that's great, and I think your right, there is always hope for a school especially when teachers are never ready to give up on the students.

That is how the schools can keep their motto "All will learn". Dumb down the learning.

Sacred Heart Cathedral School - Not ranked
...in Reading and Mathmatics skills determined by standardized testing in the state of Kansas. These rankings for our area schools are just outrageous and it is because of all the student who don't give a flying rat's @$$ about their education and their only real goal is to cause as many problems for everyone else.

Schooldigger.com -- Search and compare elementary, middle, and high schools. For reference on these stats. They are mostly only up to date as of the 2004 school year. But the stats are probably worse now.

I spent my entire schooling in public schools (except half of 3rd grade and all fo 4th grade). I think that had their been less gang activity - there would have been a significantly better level of education. I'm not asking for segregation. I'm asking for enforcement of the policies already in place. Is that really so much to ask? Expulsion is the only key to removing gang violence and other shifty activities from our schools. And maybe, just maybe we could up our numbers a bit if the Board of Education would allow for this kind of punishment for bad behavior.
how old are you and where did you go to school that you had so much gang activity in the 3rd and 4th grade that it affected schooling? last year in south central LA?

I think your reading comprehension skills are very lacking! Nothing in the quote you used said anything about gangs in his 3rd and 4th grade classes. What it did say was that he attended public school all his school years except for half of his 3rd grade year and all of his 4th grade year.

Kind of hard to follow what you are saying, you know that optional punctuation thing taught in school, but none the less.........

Are you trying to say you knew the victims, or the ones who killed them? I do know the boys involved with the shooting on the bridge, and if you are trying to say they were not gang affiliated, then you are an idiot. If you are saying they were just hanging out and having fun, well then you are a bigger idiot.

cnfusion?

As a matter of fact, yes I did know them. And as another fact, yes they were gang related initiations that caused this. Not just some good ole kid hanging out on the bridge, or parking lots! Only a dip wad or a bonafide DWE would attempt lessening the murder of our young people because some spazz who thinks it makes them TUFF or BAD to be in a gang! When all it makes them, is stupid! Don't ask questions when you have not a clue as to what the answer really is! You could offend the parents of those who were lost. Not a real good idea at all!
