| I have a friend that compares her job being a teacher to her time as a prison guard at a maximum security prison. She said they shared many of the same requirements as far as putting up with people who have no consideration for others. She said she preferred the prison because at least there she had some control and the support of the warden to reprimand violators. And this is from a local school.

| Teachers vs. Illegals. After the Mercado young man was shot and killed by a gang banger, there was a uproar in the community. There was a meeting held in the gym where anyone could voice his or her opinions concerning this nightmare. I asked why we had to educate the gang bangers and illegals that were taking over our schools and causing a mess for everyone NOT hispanic. I was told that because it was the LAW? What is this law that says that we have to educate the illegal children and or gangbangers? Is there such a law? |

| Sadly I believe there is........................ just can't quote it for you - I know you can't discriminate.......... that my friend is a law......... I can't quote it either...... I'm sick of this too!

Its true sadly...but if the Board of Education would grow a pair and make the punishments for violation of public school rules. Zero Tolerance enforcement would be a start. Expel the little bastards so they can stop disrupting our childrens time for education. Because frankly... Dodge City High School - 316/335 For High Schools Dodge City Middle School - 244/255 For Middle Schools Soule Intermediate Center - 144/255 For Middle Schools Commanche Intermediate Center - 237/255 For Middle Schools Beeson Elementary - 293/739 For Elementary Schools Sunnyside Elementary - 727/739 For Elementary Schools Central Elementary - 562/739 For Elementary Schools Northwest Elementary - 604/739 For Elementary Schools Linn Elementary - 589/739 For Elementary Schools Miller Elementary - 426/739 For Elementary Schools Wilroad's Garden Elementary - 182/739 For Elementary Schools Sacred Heart Cathedral School - Not ranked ...in Reading and Mathmatics skills determined by standardized testing in the state of Kansas. These rankings for our area schools are just outrageous and it is because of all the student who don't give a flying rat's @$$ about their education and their only real goal is to cause as many problems for everyone else. Schooldigger.com -- Search and compare elementary, middle, and high schools. For reference on these stats. They are mostly only up to date as of the 2004 school year. But the stats are probably worse now. I spent my entire schooling in public schools (except half of 3rd grade and all fo 4th grade). I think that had their been less gang activity - there would have been a significantly better level of education. I'm not asking for segregation. I'm asking for enforcement of the policies already in place. Is that really so much to ask? Expulsion is the only key to removing gang violence and other shifty activities from our schools. And maybe, just maybe we could up our numbers a bit if the Board of Education would allow for this kind of punishment for bad behavior. |

| My day care provider has a son in elementary school.. i'm not sure if they're still doing this or not... but the school system gets to choose where your kid goes so that way they can even things out (race wise) a bit i guess.. anywho they said her kid needed to go to sunnyside elementary ( when i went there it was a great school, but that was a longgggg time ago) well when she refused to take her son there because of their test scores, the principal asked her "Are you sure you don't want your son going here because there's alot of mexicans?" My provider said "No your school has one of the lowest scores in Dodge I don't want my son going here" so the principal kept implying that she (my provider) didn't want her son going to Sunnyside because there was "alot of mexicans" My son will never go to the schools here.. I used to be a para at the middle school and that place is so completley out of control!!! I'm sure the high school is the same way... I was told Central Elementary was a good school, but hard to get into. I had a friend that went from Cimarron high school to dodge high school her sophmore year, she said the stuff they were teaching were things she learned in middle school.. she couldn't believe it. Just thought I'd share that since it went w/ the topic ![]() P.S She (daycare provider) ended up taking her son to a school out of this county.

| I think this whole thing of sending/bussing kids all over town to "integrate" is a bunch of crap, myself! A kid can live right across the street from a school, yet they bus him clear across town. Waste of taxpayers money, let alone the freedom to go to your own neighborhood school. The schools are darn near 80% hispanic anyway, so what's the big "integration" idea anyway?? ![]() |

| Not to mention the waste in fuel for all of those buses.
