Hatchet Game?

Does my memory serve me correct, is this Friday the 13th ooooooooo errie, the Hatchet Game? This will be the year the hatchet finally returns to DC I believe. That game is the greatest rivarly in the State in my opinion. Can't wait to hear the score.

OK, I'll bite. I don't recall any game being called a hatchet game when I lived there. I assume you mean a football game? who are they playing?

The Hatchet Game is annual football game between DC and Garden City. It is called the Hatchet Game because there is a painted hatchet with both schools team colors on it and thew winner of the game gets to take it home. It is a traveling trophy that adds a little extra incentive to an already fierce rivalry.

I agree...Dodge was soooooooo close to bringing it home from Garden last year. IF Dodge has a chance to win it will be this year. I'll be there but looks like it might be a little cold....brrrr.

Thank you, I went to a few Demon games every year when I was there but never heard the GC game referred to as the hatchet game for some reason. I hope they pull it off this time.

As I look back over my high school years, the fondest memories were of the pep club, pep rallies and ball games. The students and parents really supported the teams, whether it be football or basketball. I didn't get to many of the baseball games, so I can't speak for them. The Hatchet games was always a big one, sorta like the I-70 series is for the Chiefs. It would be a great thing if the students this year could see/feel the same kind of team spirit and watch their team win big. The comrardery was fantastic. Maybe that would help unify the students? Go Red Demons!!! (and bring back the mad demon on the water tower!)

As a Demon Alumni myself , the hatchet game always been the biggest game of the year. And I can't wait til friday night myself, demons are going to bring it home this year . Good Luck Demons I will be cheering you on

We understand that comprehending the 'current events' surrounding you isn't your strong suit. Long-term memory and "connecting the dots" hasn't grown legs 4U either....
