Name The New Grade Screwl

The retired teacher from my grade school days who was revered was Gussie Mootz. Her father was also a Dodge City educator.

She dressed like a floozy.

I think Ethel would be a fabulous choice! Gee I just adore her! Now that's the kinda politician I'm talkin bout!! She was so connected with her constituants. She was just a down home kinda girl! Sure she could play hardball when needed but I just never saw that side of Ethel. Have had many times that we worked on the same thing, or in the same circle in my DC life. I was always able to count on her - she was always a woman of her word with me.

Ethel Peterson was my speech teacher...I just loved her!! I think that would be a good idea to name a school after her.

I would say "for being who she IS"
she is still a great lady. From a great family. her father helped start up credit unions in the region and what not.

We otta start a petition to take to whoever - Perhaps Bubba could get one together for us (if he agrees) or maybe the fellers could get a poll goin then we could see some possible folks to chosse from.

I realize several of you think Ethel Peterson is a great lady and I'm sure she is but she isn't great enough to have a school named after her. I think it needs to be kept in comparison to the other schools here and named Ross Elementary. We have had great teachers and people come and go and I just feel we should keep with the other schools or rename all the schools after old teachers and current school board members.

Oh, I get it - like Lincoln Elementary is named after......

Central school is on Central Avenue, so that's OK. and Sunnyside is on Sunnyside. Northwest is...........

There really doesn't seem to be a common thread, so ya'all otta be able to name it whatever you want. I think Peterson Elementary would be great!

I gotta side with the Ethel thing - since when is a board member (they come and go) more important than a teacher that actually accomplished enough and was signfigant enough to be an elected official.......... not important???

Rather name a school after a street than a living person?????........ phhh000 shawwwww.......

Peterson......... and it should have Ethel in front of it cause she is female........ enough with this...... we should, we shouldn't......... The woman accomplished much more than most women in Dodge City and is alive enough to still be cherished by most............ perfect person for a school being named after them...............
