I am wondering why on earth something like this was posted on this site before it was reported to the school or police. I think that was wrong as hell. Good job 357

I also feel the same way. Law enforcement should have been notified as soon as the child told her mother. I called and spoke to a detective who called Officer Cork who works up there. He knew who the girl was, claimed she was harmless but he would keep extra watch on her until the end of school. Hopefully they do get extra help up there next week with school coming to an end. I also informed hubby who is an officer so he could keep an eye out! Just doesn't make me feel safe at all sending my kindergartener to Northwest in fear something might actually happen and the shots go towards the elementary school....

I can understand why a person would ask around first. The OP was trying to see if anyone else had heard about it, possibly to determine the severity of the threat preceding a report to the police.

Many people are afraid to talk to police, especially when they are concerned about their evidence or the source.

Most of us know the police are on this board. It's convenient to make an unofficial report on here and not have to give your name/number to police, knowing that if the police consider it a threat, it will get checked out.

I for one, am glad that a person who has not made that call to the police, at least aired their concern on the board to fellow board members. It did get checked out right? Thank God for that.

I may be mistaken, but after the Columbine shooting did they not say the same thing about those two boys? Most thought they were just harmless!

As far as I'm concerned, nobody that makes a threat like that is "harmless". They have at least one screw loose.

Sometimes people won't report things because their own lives are at stake if they do.

okay just to clear things up with everyone. I have dealt with many various situations at the schools & have seen lots of situations ignored or pushed aside. That is why I posted on here instead of calling & reporting. First of I wanted to make sure parents were aware of the situation. Secondly I know that the police & powers that be read this board & that way it would be reported with no chance of reprocution to the girl I was protecting. Thirdly the situation was taken care of. The school called most of the 7th grade class in to talk with the principal. There were LOTS of terrified kids. The girl who made the threats was called in too & didn't return.The kids were told she was taken for therapy to get help. This board took care of the matter quickly as I expected & with no harm to anyone involved the situation has been dealt with. If the board had not taken care of this as I expected I would have of course went ahead & reported the situation myself. I had no intentions of letting this slide by & was not taking it lightly. I just had more faith in this board making sure the situation was dealt with correctly instead of running the risk of the school ignoring it.
